Would love to see Telepathy updated to 3e, could really do a Conspiracy X if it was. Glad to see the update, need to dive into it

Thanks for ditching the AI art slop from 2e in the new 3e, but there aren't any bookmarks in the 3e PDF.

I enjoyed the color and rules of 2ed, and no issues with the 2ed. Happy to get a slightly updated 3ed. If some new 3ed modules get created, I'll happily buy them!

I have several in various stages of development. Publishing a module is so much more effort than people think!

Thanks Bill - looking forward to it. Even if you port over some of the Covert Ops modules, that would be a great start!

Sorry to hear you feel that way, but I understand some people really enjoyed the White Box version. I put a lot of work in the second and third editions and despite stepping back from the White Box license, the game is fundamentally similar at the table. I did include all the 1st edition content as a zip file in this edition, due to its past popularity. Thank you for supporting the original edition at least!

I'm making a (second) request for access to the first edition core book file. Please allow us to choose which version we prefer!

Just bought the PDF and will order the softcover. Looks like a very easy to get a new group started quickly. Are there any adventure modules planned to be released? Or should I try converting Covert Ops adventures?

The 2nd edition mechanics and rules are awesome too. But i would prefer you use the 1st Edition silhouette arts. Those are super cool and feel thematic rather than the 2nd Edition's AI art.

I wonder will you allow us access to the 1st Edition or change the current AI art, Will?

I hope you're happy with the current edition, and thank you for your comments on the silhouette art. I did that myself and was always self-conscious about it, saw all my own flaws. I'm no artist, so for 3rd edition I got rid of all the A.I. stuff.

There really needs to be a flag for "AI" "art" on DTRPG entries.

well it's gone now. 3rd edition has new content, some streamlines, and some tweaks... but is mostly the same game as 2nd. No more AI

I'll need to look at the 2nd edition rules, but at very first blush I really prefer the OSR version. I've been using the OSR "engine" so long now, it's like wearing an old, comfortable shirt. Str/Dex/Con/etc is so simple to referee for. Perhaps you could offer the 1st edition of WL as a "hidden bonus" or something to that effect?

But I'm not one to stay mired in the past, so I'll give the 2nd edition a thorough look.

And, as many have said, put me down as a fan of the iconic, elegant silhouette art of 1st edition.

Szerintem.

Thank you for the feedback! There are others who share your opinion. As I've said to others, I was completely unaware the first edition art was well-received. I did it myself, with little talent and no artistic training, and was actually a little self-conscious of it. I appreciate that you liked it better, and if I would have known many like it I wouldn't have considered the art I chose for 2nd edition. The mechanics of this edition, I think, are worth it! Especially the level advancement tables, my favorite part of the system!

Perhaps it would be okay for me to add it to the downloads of this edition... I'll consider that. I'm surprise anyone would want the first edition over the second, I honestly find it much more fun at the table! If I may ask, what is the reason for your preference?

I for one appreciated how I could equip each of my players with a copy of the rulebook for the same price as just one of the second edition. My players are pretty much exclusively analog, so this was critical. I still haven't picked up the new book physically due to this.

My players appreciated how intuitive and familiar the ruleset was as well. This is the main reason they were willing to try something other than 5th edition! This was actually the only game I was able to convince them to play that isn't 5th edition DnD. The small, concise nature of the first edition really appealed to them, I think.

Hey there! Just bought a digital copy of the game. And man, am I excited to read it!

I find myself hungry for more modules / operations / missions. Thanks, Bill, for some great content. Love the old-school feel and writing style. Wrote a Man of a Certain Age... :)

(What drew me to the title was finding your name in an older CovertOps adventure. It was beautifully written and gave me lots of ways to get in and out of the adventure. Very different than other spy roleplaying games. This new game feels no different. Good stuff!)

The Infiltration Division agent gets 1D4 + toughness when he levels up but gets 1D8 + toughness at start. Is this a typo? Should it be 1D8 when he levels up instead?

it's correct, David H. The infiltrator is a poser. Able to convince others he/she is who he/she isn't. This is accomplished through being a jack of all trades, being capable with most things, but behind the scenes he/she is a total poser, acting the part only. The startup boost is a special ability to help the infiltrator pull off a convincing role, but the development rate of the agent's stamina is more in line with the sneaky rogue he/she is.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
