Had a question about the Mythic Scene flow outline on page 10.
I could not find where after the “Play Out the Scene” part of the outline that the Chaos Factor is adjusted based on the events of the Scene. I did not see it in “List Management” or the “Expected Scene” portions of the Outline.
Thanks in Advance for the Time & Attention

Hi J.R., thanks for the question. Adjusting the Chaos Factor is detailed on page 5, however, it should have been included in the summary on page 10 and got left out. I'll see about getting that fixed!

Thank You for the reply, and, yes, the CF adjustment rules are on page 5, but, sadly, re-reading that section does not yield the answer I seek.
WHEN is the Chaos Factor adjusted?
Before “List Management”? After “Play Out the Scene”? It it after “Expected Scene” which would GREATLY affect Altered & Interrupt Scene triggers?
Thanks Again for the Time & Attention

Hi J.R., the Chaos Factor is adjusted at the end of a Scene, after "Play Out The Scene". It takes place before generating the next Scene so that changes to the CF from the end of one Scene can have an impact on the next one.

I hope that helps, and sorry for the confusion :)

It's been delayed with Mythic RPG 2e taking up much of the production schedule. I'm not sure when it will release, although it may end up being a deck for both GME 2e and RPG 2e.

What up with the shipping charges?
Bought this along with the Adventure deck. Paid $14.98 shipping at checkout, and the post office just rang the doorbell and hit me for $10.80 more for postage to get my package?

that makes 2 deck of cards $25.77 for Shipping? What kind of BS is that, and be careful I guess, as that is insane.

Hi there,
first of all, thanks for the Mythic Game Master Emulator. It has unlocked tabletop roleplay for me after ages without a group. Now I would love to use the deck instead of the book for better flow during the session. Unfortunately, I can't get the A4 duplex print to line up properly. One possible reason could be that the document size differs from A4 paper size ever so slightly (Acrobat gives me 210.02 x 297.01mm for paper, but 209.9 and 296.7mm for the document, resulting in 97% scale if I opt for adjusting to paper size). Printing at 100% / original size does unfortunately not help.

Is there any chance of you having a look to see whether something went wrong during the export?

Thanks so much,

Nils

Update: Just noticed that the cards aren't fully centered on the A4 duplex document. If they were, I believe downscaling shouldn't cause an issue with front and backside alignment.

Hi Kody, thanks for asking :) With Compilation #5 done, the Mythic GME 2e Deck is next in the production list. However, I'm also working on Mythic RPG 2e. I'm hoping to get the deck out in the first half of 2024.

Hey Tana, sorry to bug you, I noticed you got that magazine compilation out finally.
Any updates on an ETA for the v2 card deck?
I really want a set of these oracle cards, but I would hate to order these only to find out better shiny new ones launched like a month after I get them.

Question, can this deck still be used with GME 2nd Edition? It would cut down on alot of stuff when consulting tables and the fate chart.

PUBLISHER
Yes, the deck works with GME2E. All Mythic rules are modular, in the sense that you can plug some in and take some out depending on your preferences. The new edition is compatible with previous rules in this regard. Fate Questions are answered in their own way with the deck, which differs slightly from the 2e rules, but that's also true of 1e. The deck is an alternative way to answer Fate Questions. It can also resolve Expected Scenes and create Random Events. The deck doesn't contain the full range of Meaning Tables in 2e, and the tables it uses are slightly different, but that's okay. You can use the meaning results from the deck or supplement them with rolled tables from the book. They all work together, you just choose what you want to use and when. If you're using 2e rules you could supplement it with the deck to speed things along, choosing to use the deck for some things and rolled tables in the book for other things.

Oh dear. I just now bought the deck, finished printing, and am literally cutting and laminating the second sheet... and now I see this.

Are there many changes planned for version 2?... The deck seems mostly quite competent to use with the 2nd edition as it is. We can use the weighted characters and threads list if we want to, and in one of the magazines there were instructions for using resisted ranks with the deck. I don't think I have the heart to print a version 2, but apart from that, is version 2 supposed to be much different anyway?...

The one thing I really really like about version 2 and miss in the deck version is the various meaning tables. They are excellent. But they also mean that a session gets a bit sprawling with tables and sheets and stuff, and I decided to try the deck precisely to cut down on the overhead and maybe even do some solo storytelling on the go, in the subway. The tables are probably impossible to put in the deck; it would be insane to expect them to be there...See more

My estimate on when the second deck would be available was really optimistic. I don't know when it's coming out, and it probably won't be very different from the original deck. It'll likely just more directly incorporate elements from the second edition book, which it sounds like you're already doing by using the original deck with the new tables.

Whew. I admit I'm relieved.

By the way, since I've got you, just want to say thank you, and thank you, and thank you again. RPGs were always a distant dreams for me, something I always wanted to try. I have no one to play them with, no one who shares that interest, and even if I did I'm not sufficiently social or even have free time. I am an avid computer graphic adventure game player - you know, Monkey Island, Broken Sword, Gabriel Knight, those classics. I kept looking for a way to recreate this in board games.

Then: Mythic. What can I say. Thank you. Thank you. And thank you again. I don't care for how many years the product has been around, I don't care that there are now many, many other simple RPG systems and gamemaster emulators, Mythic just "clicked". Even the Mythic RPG system - the "red book", I believe it's called. My first RPG experience was a short Call of Cthulhu scenario where I used none of the CoC rules, just used Mythic for everything. Granted, I...See more

I've bought the GME 2e book. Are these cards meant to be used in conjunction with the book, or as an alternative?
Reply

Tana P March 13, 2023 5:29 pm UTC
PUBLISHER
These cards are meant to be used as an alternative to the first edition of the GME. However, they can also be used in conjunction with either edition. The cards allow for an alternate way to answer Fate Questions, which you can use to replace the method in either 1e or 2e. It also performs other core functions, like testing Expected Scenes (which works the same in 2e as in 1e), generating Random Events (which is slightly different in 2e in that it has one more option, although you could still use the deck as an alternative), and Action and Description Meaning Tables.

Mythic is a very modular system, so you can use the deck with 2e if you find the convenience of the cards worth replacing certain systems in 2e. Which systems you choose to use the cards for, or to roll using the book, are up to you and are pretty much interchangeable.

If you purchase the physical version, there is no physical manual, just the option to print one that has half the content covered in SAMPLE watermarks :/ Its also locked and cant be printed. Seems like they should include these in a pdf for the physical purchasers. It says to choose physical+PDF option. That option doesn’t exist.

Otherwise they are amazing. Im currently trying to find a clean copy of the manual i paid for

Hi Josh, I'm sorry for the problems. The third option is Print-and-Play PDF + Card(s) in Tuckbox which should give you both, the physical cards and the pdf manual (as well as some other files).

Please contact me through email and I'll make sure you get the pdf material.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
