Aeldari Inheritance of Embers logo over alien scenery

Like their shattered war god Kaela Mensha Khaine, the ancient Aeldari are a sundered people. Heirs to a galaxy-wide empire that succumbed to ruination, all Aeldari fear the grip of She Who Thirsts. Each has been forced to find their own way to deal with this looming horror — some have chosen to walk a narrow path of focus and dedication, while others feed her insatiable hunger with the suffering and pain of their victims.

Aeldari: Inheritance of Embers is the ultimate Wrath and Glory sourcebook for Aeldari players and Gamemasters alike. This expansive supplement is the perfect starting point for an entirely Aeldari-focused adventure or to expand the enigmatic xenos’ role in an existing campaign. Explore the shattered ruins of Craftworld Ul-Khari, raid unwary voidships as daring Corsairs, or even risk navigating the intricate and brutal politics of Commorragh itself.

Aeldari: Inheritance of Embers is packed with details on all four of the major Aeldari factions; the Asuryani, Corsairs, Harlequins and Drukhari.

  • Explore the history of the Aeldari, from their ancient, galaxy-spanning empire to the comparative handful of survivors who subsist in the embers of what remains.
  • Dozens of new Archetypes of every Tier, featuring iconic troop types from all four factions
  • Detailed Frameworks and advice for running Aeldari-focused games
  • Elegant and deadly Aeldari Equipment, Weapons and Armour
  • Detailed NPC profiles to be used as Patrons or Nemesis in games of Wrath and Glory revolving around the Aeldari presence in the Gilead System.

The previous issues I had with the product have been resolved with the newest update to the pdf, and I'm eager to make use of Aeldari!

The Harlequin melee weapons are still a let down, are they not meant to get a bonus from strength? The Caress and Embrace are pretty much useless then due to having base damages of 3 and 5 respectively and the shadowfield remains pointless, you only get 1 more AR then a force shield but it can break.

IMO, Harlequin weapons are not ones that really benefit from strength. Monowire doesn't get inserted (Kiss) or retracted (Embrace) harder/faster by a stronger arm on the user, and the Caress "attacks ignore armour and always inflicts Mortal Wounds" per the full text, so while the stats may not seem awesome, they have their uses.

As for the shadowfield, it is what it is. It's rating is proportionate with other fields--which are not really all that strong as a class in W&G and, whitle I always thought the "burnout" bit was weird for Drukhari supertech, it's supported by the lore.

I can get behind these weapons not benefiting from strength as it makes complete sense lore wise, but I still feel they should have given them better stats, these are the signature weapons of the Aeldari's most elite faction. The Caress doing mortal wounds is a neat gimmick but the base damage is so low I feel it's not worth it and it's next to useless against enemies who can roll resilience against mortal wounds. Also if it has the ability to ignore Armour why give its profile AP and the rending effect?

Regarding your last line: AP and Rending can (under standard rules) also reduce the part of Resilience based on Toughness, esuring these weapons still do damage even against all but the toughest of opponents (like those that can roll to soak Mortal Wounds or wearing Invulnerable protection). But yes, most Harlequin weapons are "gimmick" weapons, and if you prefer traditional killing, I'd suggest going with the Aeldari Power Sword option.

But Mortal wounds ignore resilience anyways so the AP value, rending affect and ignores armor ability are all completely redundant. I feel it's a great shame that these are gimmick weapons and that C7 could have done something much more interesting

Jay and Finn, people such as yourselves are absolutely invaluable to the RPG community. Knowing the rules down the gnat's-[redacted] level of detail, and being able to articulate them in a way that newcomers to the game can wrap their brains around, is a tremendous asset. Being able to civilly debate the merits of each, and argue intelligently for specific changes to be made is icing on the cake. I would value one review from either of you more than a hundred "This book sucks!" reviews. Cubicle 7 should count themselves lucky to have your input. Thanks again, and keep up the good work!

Jesse, thank you for the kind words. My obsessive tendencies have led me to taking up a side hustle as a proofreader. Ideally, this will be a win for everyone.

Errata os a go!

And...

Many of the errors I have painstakingly reported to C7 are still in there. Want a Howling Banshee that starts with the same skills copy/paste from the Scout? You got it! Want "Suggested Attributes" sets that don't add up properly? The Scourge (at the very least) has you covered. Corsair archetypes still have a non-standard cost notation for some reason too. And then we have all the same problems with archetpe gear, like Drukhari archetypes getting "combat drugs" to start with no indications of which ones, or the Harlequin Troupe Player that gets a "Harlequin's Blade" weapon option, but that's not in the gear section. Oh, about the weapons section... Want a Shuriken weapon table that still has extra lines in it (with stats) that don't make sense? That's still here too! Hoping the Swooping Hawk Grenade Pack--a ranged weapon--with no range and no special rules on how it is used stayed that way? You'll be happy to know that it wasn't touched....See more

The new errata is a joke, nearly 2 months of waiting and every mistake that has been pointed out is still there, I want to like this book but It feels so lazy and rushed in places. Also why are the Harlequin weapon so generic? they're all the same with different damage and rend values and that's it. No brutal or agonizing considering the lore behind these weapons?

The shuriken weapon table needs errata: I believe that the first two lines in the Shuriken weapon table should be deleted and the third line should be titled Avenger Shuriken Catapult.

There are actually a great many errors on the weapon charts. Reporting on them to C7 via their form is getting exhausting.

I also submitted errata about the Wargear chapter (I love the book to bits, but the Powered Melee Weapons table, for one example, has multiple problem areas).<br />I really hope the PDF is updated soon with carefully vetted and corrected stats, since it’s a lot harder to use when you don’t know which stats appear as actually intended and which do not.

The errata reporting is a chore. Having to go through multiple drop-downs every time and reporting each individual error one at a time is frustrating. Also, it's not just the wargear: look at the base skills of the Howling Banshee archetype and consider why they have the same skills as the Ranger...including no ranks of Weapon Skill...

I agree; on the one hand, I love Inheritance of Embers, as it is the RPG book I have been waiting for literally since 1991. On the other hand, the sheer number of typos and other mistakes that really should have been caught and edited before PDF release is disheartening.

If anyone from Cubicle 7 is reading this, could you PLEASE release an updated and corrected version of the PDF soon? It's not great customer care to release a book that has so many evident mistakes that I'm afraid to actually use it at the table until they're fixed.

And yes, Jay is 100% correct about errata reporting: the online form is lengthy and tedious. If you expect your customer base to do much of the editing work you evidently can't be bothered to do yourselves before releasing a PDF, then at the very least you could overhaul the system for submitting corrections so that it isn't onerous. I'm sorry to sound caustic, but the sheer number of mistakes in this PDF that should have been extirpated before release is, in a word, troubling.

What is the correct name of the Autarch? It referrs to her by (at least) three different names, sometimes in the same paragraph.

What happened to the Space Marine Book you were doing with tier 5 play. Did it run into approval problems?

Thanks, will definitely pick physical copies of this up at Gen Con if out in physical form. I think it might. Vow of Absolution probably will not be out in Physical form in time for Gen Con.

This was a nice surprise* to find up today. I've only skimmed it so far, but there's a lot packed into this one.

* I expected the sourcebook for the Absolvers Space Marines would come out before this one.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
