Recusant: Revised Core Rulebook

Recusant is made for use with Hexploratores, the grand hex crawl setting and supplements, and is intended to allow for low fantasy role play of ordinary folk drawn by duty, obligation, or necessity into dangerous situations- the farmer and citizen soldiers who must endure war, kingly scheming, the dangers of the wild unknown, and monsters of myth and legend.  It is built from the Year Zero Engine as its core, albeit with significant changes to the Combat system in particular.  Despite these changes, Recusant is intended to be readily reverse-compatible with the Year Zero Engine and most games derived from it. 

The primary divergent mechanics to the Year Zero Engine SRD are as follows:

• Revised Profession and Background implementation at Character Creation - no classes;
• Tweaked Skill list and Skill applications;
• Overhauled Weapon and Armor and Weapon and Armor qualities system;
• Combat Action and Action Point overhaul to facilitate grid rather than Zone play;
• Revised overland travel rules
• Tweaked Damage, Injury, and Healing system to better fit with Combat overhaul;
• Freeform Sorcerous Magic system and modified casting rules

Recusant is In development for future free updates are rules to be used with Recusant standalone or Hexploratores content for Mass Combat (Contingents), Strongholds, Monster Generation, Adventure Site Generation, and solo play tools.
