I was looking at purchasing this book but the many concerns about the mechanical content has me somewhat concerned. Than I looked at a friends copy and one further peculiarity stood out to me in the Talents chapter.

Does anyone have any idea what the deal with the talents that are printed in BOLD in the talents chapter are about? What does the typeface indicate? The three talents in question are Bolter Discipline, Built Tough, and Chainsaw Warrior. All are reprints of some manner from Redacted Records but no other reprinted material in the book has the bold face. Furthermore each talent seems to have been handled differently:

Chainsaw Warrior is identical to the Redacted Records version.

Bolter Discipline cost has been increased to 20xp (a much needed change given the talents potency, and one that our group had already implemented via homebrew).

Built Tough is utterly perplexing however, as it completely different from its previous version. But rather than something...See more

I just wanted to ask (maybe a silly question) with the Assault/Devistor doctrine. It calls them advancement packages, which aren't ascension packages, then says right at the bottom of the side box "these ascension packages change your archtype" does that mean you gain all the new archetype stuff for free when used at tier 3? Or must you also meet those requirements as usual for changing archetype? It doesn't seem to clarify

Thank you for the update, although even with the new errata it still does not clarify what "change your archetype from scout to tactical marine" means, especially in regards to wether that costs xp, Wether you need to meet the prerequisits, if you gain the associated gear etc

if it helps, (and I understand if it dose not) from how I read the rules. you buy assault doctrine (for instance) at 30xp and gain all the benefits of the pack but still need to spend xp on attributes and skills to meet the min required for the tactical marine.

it works like the Archetype ascension but you geat wargear to fit your specialist role

I see that the weapon tables have been slightly changed, (really only a little, there are still a lot of problems IMO) and as for the missing things, the lack of additional equipment such as Transpectral combat visor, Divinator Auspex or Haywire mine for example

I'm glad this book was updated very promptly and a lot of the issues have been fixed but there's still odd things here and there, built tough now does the same thing as born survivor instead of halving the heavy rating of weapons, The Plasma Incinerator/Assault Plasma Incinerator have worse damage then a standard plasma gun/pistol and both of the Dreadnought's melee attacks feel very underwhelming on average they do about 3-4 damage to a plain chimera? C7 you've been very quick about fixing this one which is great but can you please now show this same level of attentiveness to the Eldar book which still needs an update

Almost all weapons makes no sense to me, Las fusil is just a bit better than Long Las, Bolt Sniper is way worse than Regular Bolt weapons, many weapons value and rarity is a completely mess and so on, and I still wait for many missing equipment like visor on Incursor or Servo Harness.

Pleasantly Surprised to see C7 respond to my little comment, but sad to see things I pointed out are the same as last time. The primaris plasma weapons are all worse versions of the standard plasma gun, still got the strange mistake of built tough being born survivor which has been in this PDF since it launched, also it and chainsaw warrior are the only talents in this book not in alphabetical order and Dreadnoughts having bizarrely low melee damage.

For some reason, the Apothecary has Medicare 5. This makes them an expert on federal health care programs for the elderly and disabled (in the USA), but they lack Medicae, the skill to perform in-game treatments for injuries and illnesses.

This product follows the unfortunate recent trends for the line. The archetypes have terrible copy/paste issues (as an example, the Intercessor has the skills and gear of the Techmarine). Several pieces of gear are mentioned but not given stats (Heavy Melta Rifle, Plasma Incerator, Heavy Plasma Incinerator, Assault Plasma Incinerator, Astartes Chainsword). Of the weapons that do have stats, they are often riddled with errors (and, if you're an Intercessor, you'll find that NONE of the ranged weapons have the Primaris keyword). I spent a great deal of time reporting all of the errors in the Aeldari book only to see C7 fail to fix them in the update. With this, I sadly foresee the same. I can't understand why someone would give this book a 5* review when it's so badly done in its present form.

Sure hope this isn't another case of unfinished product that needed extra editing that they later errata and don't even fix the issues in the errata.

Seriously guys, quality over quantity, we don't need a new book every three months if you're doing this kinda job.
