"Ever since you were young, the uproarious camp at the crossroads was your favourite place to be. It was a day’s walk from any of the surrounding villages and the perfect location to build your inn. Soon, others started to establish themselves at the crossroads. Blacksmiths forged tools and repaired arms and armour, merchants came and went with trade goods and your services were in high demand. The people of the growing hamlet looked to their founder for leadership. Now, you reign over this small piece of the Ironlands, content in knowing that a weary traveller will always have a place to stay at the crossroads inn."

Ironsworn: Reign is an unofficial supplement for the Ironsworn RPG. It is compatible with both Ironsworn and Ironsworn: Delve, although only the Ironsworn core rules are required.

In Ironsworn: Reign, settlers will undertake projects that bolster their community and prepare them to endure each winter. Using the guidance and tools in this book, you will command your people in pursuit of your sworn vow to protect them. The communities you lead do not need to be whole villages. The ten new moves and three new tracks are flexible enough to allow you to be the captain of a sailing vessel, the owner of a tavern, a chieftan of a small nomadic tribe, or the ruler of an entire kingdom. Whatever the role you choose, the Ironsworn: Reign supplement can be added at any time to a new or existing campaign. Are you ready to reign?

I've been looking through the rules. My wife and I were playing a game where we found a corrupt/cursed city and part of the story was we were given some mercs and were asked to find magic items in the city. The mercs were paid 1 months salary buy the person hiring us but we have to pay them from that point forward. This appears to easily work for that but I was thinking about how some of the assets that exist might actually apply to the group, not the individual. Do you think it makes sense to try to give the settlement/group an asset? Like my character personally doesn't care about wealth and neither does my wife, but the merc group does so it would actually have the Fortune Hunter trait because that is how they are paid. Also the mercs would as a group have certain skills that she and I lack.

Also I saw a comment about how you might be creating new rules for Starforged/Sundered Isles, at that time maybe add in settlement related assets unless they already exist and I'm somehow missing them.

Yeah I guess assets like fortune hunter and commander that have their own +track move could work for the settlement themselves but I'd be wary. Most moves for Ironsworn are player facing and changing where the asset is located could cause some unusual interaction. You could always give it a go and see if it works. Delve specifically says that the fortune hunter asset can be shared among players so I don't see why the settlement can't use it instead.

As for SF/SI, I'll wait for Sundered Isles to come out and see where Reign fits before committing to another book. I'm currently (10 months in) writing a new one using the SF system with some major tweaks.

Thanks for the support.

Are there plans to expand this for Starforged and Sundered Isles?

I think I'll wait for Sundered Isles to come out and review the rules at that point. There might be some change that creates an unintended flaw. However, if I do release it for SI/SF there would be a big change to the way the settlements are managed to reflect the changes in the rules between Ironsworn and Starforged/Sundered Isles.

I looked into it but it It requires a bit of work to get it in the right format. It seems like people like it though so I'll try to find the time to figure it out.

The minimum for the print is the cost of the printing which (from memory) is about $3.51. I set it to be pay what you want so it's accessible for people without the funds to pay.

This looks like a great product (as you know from my posts on FB). Is there any chance of creating a printer friendly version without the pictures and dark backgrounds? I would like to print out the book without spending a fortune.

Hi Killian - I notice the Gather Resources move (p14) is missing from the moves sheet. Also is it worth mentioning that a Vow to the Settlement gives Settlement points on completion. (p6)

Hi Shane. Thanks for pointing that out. I've updated the document with the missing move and I've added the reminder for good luck.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
