What is this?

"Arcane Dominion" is a 180 paged "Generic Campaign Creation Package" for any science-fiction Role Playing Game that feature a post-apocalypse setting / world. This is for the GameMaster/DungeonMaster that needs adventure seeds, a major conspiracy, locations, event- and loot-tables, NPC:s and tons and tons of intrigue.

This campaign book is created for you to use as a base for a larger campaign in a desert wasteland. Here is a detailed world with two large settlements - one low-tech and one high-tech, with lots of detailed locations, NPC:s and side-quests.

If you are looking for a post-apocalypse setting that will give you hours of fun - this is it!

However, this book does not contain any complete adventures, rule-specific stats or items and guns with detailed tables.
Instead, this is a "generic" book, made for "any" Role Playing Game Core Rule System.

This book contains:

  • 11 Detailed NPC:s with full-page color illustrations.

  • 24 Locations, with lots of detail, side-quests, loot-tables and NPC-descriptions.

  • One large Main Quest that can be used as the Campaign setting, with six different suggested starters.

  • 75 Side-quests!

  • 21 D20 Loot-tables (location specific!)

  • One large D100 Event Table

Very interesting question. I have made (as you might have seen) a lot of solo-games in the past, but ARCANE DOMINION is not created with solo-gaming in mind. That said, if you have a Core Rule System that allows for descriptive locations, NPC, adventure-seeds etc to be "compiled" into a Solo-adventure - then sure, this might work. However, I have never used any such core system so I am not familiar with how that would work. Check the "Alternate preview", the "Full page preview" to see how this is built/created, and you might get a better feeling for if this would work for you or not.

Thanks for he reply. I picked up the bundle of three with this one in, and am going to try playing them solo with he Loner engine (worth a look if you’re not familiar with it). I’m going to use the locations, NPCs and adventure hooks, but not the main plot.

REALLY cool to hear that you are going to try to play around with solo-gaming with these books. Please let me know, in a review if you have the possibility to do so, what you liked (and didn't like) and what worked and didn't work solo-wise.

Any suggestions for future books, to make them more "solo friendly" are welcome!

I'd be happy to! Going away for a week, and this is my entertainment for the journey, so will write something up when I get back.

As for solo play, the sandbox-style descriptions of locations and NPCs are more useful than the main plots. From what I've seen so far, Destruktors is probably the least solo friendly (at least for my style) as it puts a lot of emphasis on story structure, whereas Cyberfantome looks like it would be very useful.

With what you write in mind, I believe you'd love my next up-coming "Fantasy Dungeon"-themed book. It is really focused as a "creation kit" and would probably work very well for solo-gaming then, if it is sandbox locations, NPC etc that you're looking for.

I've bought it, I haven't finished reading it but I love it so far. There is one thing I'd love to see added; a map. Just of the general area, if you want to add maps of the specific areas as well that'd be great but just knowing where things are in relation to each other and what the surrounding area is like would do wonders!

I was thinking of adding maps to the game, but wanted to keep it as "free" as possible. However, as you say, it might make things a bit more clear, and all DM:s/GM:s have the option to make their own maps anyway.

I'll see what I can come up with. I'll take this into consideration!

YES - there will be a print-on-demand version. I am actually setting this up now and hope to order the proof-copies next week. That usually mean that, if everything goes as planned, the softcover (and perhaps hardcover) version will be available in late April or early May, 2023.

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
