100 Hooks and Rumours for Terrinoth

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Characters may at some point ask around for information, and this supplement has 100 things for them to hear when doing so. Whether or not what they hear is true is up to the GameMaster. These rumours can be used as background colour and as potential adventure hooks.

This PDF supports Adobe layers and the page backgrounds and images can be disabled to make printing easier.

Here are some sample results:

  • Greigory, Baron of Rhynn, in some ways rules as the greatest amongst equals rather than being the sole true ruler, as seen with other barons, largely thanks to the immense wealth that the lesser nobles have attained thanks to their proximity to the Carthmount silver mines. There are rumours that the lesser nobles are trying to get Baron Greigory replaced; not with one of their number, but with their own, smaller scale, version of the Council of Barons.
  • Havenshyr is the largest town of the Barony of Dhernas and it frequently hosts traders and merchants due to it being a few leagues from Frostgate. There are rumours that the town is going to start increasing charges to merchants and traders passing through it, which will make none of them happy. Though there isn't currently an alternative, if true and fees become too high, the traders may skip the town altogether.
  • Haverford County in Allerfeldt is dotted with ruins and half-finished from grand projects started, and not finished, by previous counts whose ideas exceeding their abilities and, eventually, the county's treasury. It's rumoured that some of these ruins have hidden features that are valuable, dangerous or both, that can be found by those who explore them.
  • Hernfar Isle is home to the furthest eastern outpost of the Daqan Lords and is garrisoned by the Kell militia. The isle itself seems unremarkable, but soldiers posted there soon have stories to tell about what they've seen, or almost seen. Tales of luminous eyes looking across the river at the isle are common, and some claim that these are growing more frequent. That the eyes are appearing in greater numbers and remaining for longer, almost as if something from the Darklands beyond was gathering its forces.
  • Jenda's Harbor in the Barony of Telor is located where the river of Korina's Tears empties into the sea. There are rumours that recently strange things have been found floating in the river, some of them seemingly alive. Oddly, none of them seem to have come down the river from upstream, for none have been reported there, instead coming up from the sea somehow.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
