Came here because of the banner "Now Includes PDF" only to discover it doesn't apply to the core rules.

So still no buy from me.

Exactly the same for me. A bit more honesty in advertising would be appreciated.

Yeah, let us know when the Core Rules get a pdf. Don’t need a supplement in pdf for a game I don’t have.

I'll buy this if you give us a PDF. I don't use VTTs; I only play in person with physical dice and paper. I don't want to be tied to the internet for something I have already purchased. Please fix this and I'll give you my money. IDK if you guys just don't want more money, but this must be killing your sales.

Still BS, roll20 only - just a reason to look elsewhere for a supers game.

The original FASERIP Marvel Superheroes is still the best but it's also legitimately free at ClassicMarvel.com. Every rulebook, supplement, and adventure.

If they released a stand-alone PDF product not shackled to another service I would happily buy it. As it stands it's a hard pass from me and that's a shame because I'm a huge Marvel fan and I heard this game is good but this STUPID decision by Marvel will ensure the game's early demise because of it due to not being able to reach as broadly as possible.

I'm begging you Marvel, just release a PDF. I want to give you my money but you're making it hard for me to do so. Give us what we want and we'll happily pay for it.

Not going to get this until they release a pdf... What kind of an asinine move is releasing it through roll20? I hate that thing.

Morbid curiousity has me checking to see how far down this has fallen in the rankings. As I post this, it's already down to #84...

It's awful that they only released this through you using Roll20 VTT. I'm not getting a membership just to play the game. So, I did the unthinkable and purchased this "book" twice on Amazon and tore 1 apart to make a pdf...

I have no interest in Roll20. I'd be happy to buy this product, just please offer it as a PDF. Thanks.

I'm a chump who bought this. The game itself is fine, a little rules light. However, the design is predatory. There is no examples of play and some rules aren't very clear in practical play. The Roll20 integration is garbage and definitely, not having a PDF I can "thumb" through/resize hurts the experience. The Roll20 character sheet is bad? It gives the impression that it is handling everything and it isn't-- and that's fine by itself but if I use the character creator and my powers which boost stats and rolls don't modify the stats... it can be tough to figure that out when you are learning the game. That there is no PDF version is predatory and they knew that going in but they want to control the game and force people to buy the $100 set. It's pretty despicable, to be honest and what it means is that it is difficult for me to let my players see the book to learn the game. Because Mouse Corp wanted control.

They clearly also didn't include any default adventure because... they're greedy....See more

I agree that the electronic package is unappealing. I bought the physical book for only $36 on Amazon and am reasonably happy with it. I hope that the future titles in this line have a similar 60% discount through Amazon.

Interesting. I can't seem to find a single written review for a Roll20 VTT product, though maybe I'm missing something. Most don't even have an anonymous star rating. Are Roll20 VTTs actually reviewable on DriveThru, or are they just not popular enough for literally anyone to have reviewed even one?

That might be it. I haven't published anything, but I think I signed up to be one in like 2020 when I was planning on releasing a supplement for Cyberpunk. I just never finished the process.

You can change the product page to have as many pretty pictures as you want due to poor comments, but still no. Not without a PDF. I use to use Roll20, but wouldn't go back to it if you paid me as I've found a superior VTT, so without a PDF this product is as useful to me as a chocolate teapot.

Ha. Well, thanks for the compliment on the pictures John. Character building and character management for in person games is new at Roll20, and we're trying to showcase some of that.
As mentioned below, the formats we can and cannot offer are determined by the publisher.
Happy gaming, whichever great tools you use in your game.

We won't get the pdf. Is Disney, I get it. The fact that once I set up the compendium in roll20 y can share with my players is good.

What I don't get is that, as a VTT tool, is pretty, but lacks some basic things, like:
1. A way to roll a raw 1d616
2. Edge and Trouble re-rolls
3. Add modifiers to a roll or damage.

Aside from that, the art, tokens, and pre-mades are welcome and allows for picking and playing once you have some maps.

Our Roll20 dev team is currently working on implementing Edge and Trouble re-rolls.
I'm not certain if the other two items are also being worked on yet. I will pass them on to the team.

Since you are reading: There does not seem to be a way to customize a character once you are done creating it. You may click on the grind buttons, change the base value, but it never shows up on the character sheet.

Can you also make it so that powers like Mighty and Sturdy are added to character sheets on creation? I get that after you use the wizard, that powers are just text you can edit and add, but at that point where the wizard is generating the sheet, especially for new players, just add it straight to the modifiers.

Also, it would be great if there was a way to target enemies, so that the game can automatically figure the target's DR into a damage roll, because as a GM, having to keep open up windows to check character sheets is a bit of a pain.

The rulebook is a Roll20 compendium that you can read and search from any web browser.
The data in the rulebook is also structured so it can power digital character sheets and more. We've updated the description above to better explain these features.
See above the section on trying the Quick Start rules and Character Builder for free.

Seems absurd that there's no PDF available for this. I'm not going to pay a Roll20 subscription on top of the cost of buying the game just to let my friends be able to make characters. Marvel's really dropped the ball here.

The point they're trying to make is that most companies make things easy, by providing hard copy "and" digital copies. It's bullshit that they are keeping it to an online service.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
