100 Spaceports to Encounter

In a futuristic setting, characters will need to land or dock their ships at some kind of port at one time or another. This supplement has 100 briefly described ports for them to visit. These cover both planetary ports and space stations, and are of a variety of different sizes and types, with varying levels of law and quality. Some of the ports have more specifically described locations to find them whilst others can be dropped into a variety of appropriate places.

Here are some sample results:

• Groundport that is now only barely operational. It was built close to a volcano, which erupted, covering much of the facility in lava. Now, most of the original landing pads and buildings are buried under the solidified lava; the rest has been made just about operational in a need to have some kind of functioning groundport up and running as quickly as possible.
• Groundport that is still badly damaged after an explosion took out several ships and a good chunk of the port's facilities. The still usable pads are operating at close to max capacity, as the port is still doing a lot of trade, more than it is currently equipped to handle. Work is going on around the clock to repair the damaged parts.
• Groundport that's a battered cluster of buildings built around an oasis in the middle of the desert. The landing pads are simply areas of sand scorched hard by the engines of the ships that have landed there. The port is home to a heavy criminal element, and almost no-one is fully legitimate in anything they do.
• Huge spaceport situated some distance from the planet at one of the Lagrange spots, because it solely deals with megafreighters. Most of this is transhipment, resulting in extensive orbital warehouses, but some of the cargo does go down to the planet; that, and the crew, means that it also operates an extensive fleet of shuttles.
• Large space station whose size is purely down to the sort of traffic that goes through it than the amount of traffic. The ships that use the station are those shipping bulk, lower value goods, and much of the port is taken up by storage for such things, including networks of cargo modules surrounding it waiting to be taken elsewhere.
