Welcome to the year 2385!

The Twist War is over, worlds are rebuilding, and the Confederacy is assembling an interstellar navy. But the galaxy is far from stable and ripe with opportunities for the right kind of adventurers.

Blackwatch 2385 is a science fiction role-playing game that provides thrilling adventures for you and your friends as you create personalized characters who are members of Blackwatch, an elite group of mercenaries who accept the jobs others can’t—or won’t.

Your missions will take you to the far corners of the Terran Confederacy, encountering danger, mystery, and intrigue at every turn. From the desert wastelands of Dalmont IV to the ancient ruins of Tarus, twelve worlds await, each filled with unique populations, challenges, and opportunities—for those willing to seek them out.

With a flexible and intuitive game system, Blackwatch is easy to pick up and play, yet offers endless possibilities for customization and strategy. Whether you prefer to engage in combat, diplomacy, or exploration, there is something for every player.

Gather your friends, grab your dice, and prepare to embark on a rich and immersive gaming experience that will keep you on the edge of your seat.  The fate of the Confederacy is in your hands, and only you can lead your team to victory against the forces that threaten it. Are you ready for the challenge?

Note: Everything you need to create and outfit characters, create or purchase ships and equipment, interact with the denizens of The Terran Confederacy, and run a thrilling adventure is provided in this second edition of Blackwatch 2385!

Can the resource sheets (ship, alien, robot, and character) be loaded as separate documents, possibly without the black border (for printer-friendly printing)? I'd edit myself, but you [wisely] embedded the fonts.
Additionally, I love the presentation and narration style of the game.
Any recommended methods for NPC creation only cause there are limited examples of NPCs/adversaries in the book.

Hi Michael!
I'll gladly work to add some single sheets for download. That should help a bit on that.

I was considering doing an NPC "source" that gave some standard bad guys for GM's use and a quick guideline for scaling fights to your players. What do you think?

Ok, I have my designers setting up single PDFs for the resources. They should show up in a few days. I'm working on a nice "How To" for NPCs. I hope that helps. Thanks for your input on this!

I've added a quick guide to NPC creation as a file to the downloads. Please give this a look and see if it will serve you until I can get a full version done and provided. :)

Ok, designers have cranked out the single PDF resource files. Give them a try for home printing! Let me know how it goes.

This looks thematically rich and quite tactical; if you are currently handing out review copies, I would love to feature it in my Youtube channel. Is there an email where I can contact you?

I'll second that.

I'd like to know a bot more about the system used, and maybe the setting.

Thanks!

This is a d100 system. The game is skills-based.: haracters advance primarily by raising their skills. The key rules were written in the early 1980’s. The system is both simple and intuitive.

I also added a video preview to give an idea what a printed book is like. Please forgive the video quality. I made it this morning with my phone.

I was asking because I had an SF game at one time called "Blackwatch" and it wasn't bad for the time. By chance did the prior edition come in a binder?

yes, indeed the first edition of Blackwatch came in a three-ring binder with a black cover. Tadashi printed 100 copies of those for game conventions, and a few made it out to the general public. I occasionally see one on a used game site. I hope you had fun with yours!

Don't think we ended up running anything with it, but I remember it had some things I liked, enough I'll give your new edition a look soon as I get some money together. Wishlisted.

Indeed, the suggested let people see it all isn't working. I'll cut it back to a smaller portion. Thanks!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
