Hi there Thomas, good to hear from you. It's lore heavy and stat neutral, so it works with anything. But it was written in the spirit of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, Moldvay Basic / Expert (OSE), medieval Call of Cthulhu, and Original Dungeons & Dragons. Enjoy.

Hi there Brennan, thanks much, I appreciate it. I don't think I'll need it at this time. Last night I was playing with the settings, but I think the sacrifices that need to be made for a 0.75" gutter are too big. Because of the aspect ratio of the full-page images I needed to reduce image size about 10% to fit, and then I was going to need to narrow tables and also reduce font from Georgia 11 to Georgia 10 and it was throwing the entire design off into a full reformat that looks bad. So what I'm doing for now is removing Corodion and two Golden Death art pieces, which brings the page count down to 498, which is the Amazon maximum for 0.5" gutter size on this format. All of which means I now have a hardcover of this available (will order proof soon to see how it looks) but it's only 99% of the content instead of 100%. 8)

Hi Martin, I think so, but there are some technical challenges. A print book of this size requires a 0.75" gutter (interior spine margin) on all pages, and the book is set up at a 0.5" gutter currently. This means that the entire book needs to be reformatted for print and might not be feasible depending on color ink weights and page thickness etc. It will hopefully happen but I need to do a lot of work and I'm not sure yet if it's going to pass spec.

Hi Benjamin, some of the art (old maps) is in the public domain from the 1600s and 1700s. All of the illustrations are AI-generated from Midjourney, hence the disclaimer. A very detailed PDF, would be nice (one might say at 500+ pages, essential...) to have bookmarks and an on the page way for the user to easily navigate back to the Table of Contents from anywhere in the book.

Hi there John, I can add more bookmarks - there are already some in the navigation based on chapters and the table of contents is clickable for return (at least in my version of Adobe Acrobat and Reader). I can push through an update with more, but I'm not sure if I can add a navigation back on all 500+ pages. I usually read in two-page spread with the navigation pane open on the left.

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
