Play solo or without a GM with the Unmastered Play Guide! Alternatively, up your improvisational game as a GM with ready access to dozens of oracle tables designed to have direct impact on a Genesys game with Genesys mechanics.

In this product, you will find:

  • a long-form campaign system that allows for character growth and development without the need for a GM;
  • System Moves corresponding to narrative acts in a standard three- to five-act arc that can be used individually or as part of a structured system for creating incredible episodes of play;

  • so much more!

Whether you are an aspiring solo player, have a table of players champing at the bit for unmastered cooperative play without a GM, or simply want to augment your own GMing skills, the UPG is an invaluable resource to have at your disposal.

This product includes supplemental materials. The supplemental materials include:

  • image files;
  • links to Google Document templates for tracking a long-form game over multiple episodes and for tracking progress through a Structured Mode episode of play; and
  • a transparent mat with information useful for Strucutred Mode play that can be used as an overlay in a virtual tabletop or printed onto a surface for at the table play.

Requires the Genesys Core Rulebook and access to the narrative dice to play!

*This product includes AI-generated art, please be aware! I have tried to be as transparent about this as possible and similar information is in the credits and acknowledgements sections of the book. The cover image is a composite of four different pieces generated using my own installation of the open source stable diffusion models. These original images are included in the supplemental materials and can be used however you want as there are no rights associated with them.

TODO: As new options are conceived and created, they will be added to the ADDENDA section.

CHANGELOG

2024-04-12: Minor updates to supplemental files - slightly modified the gdoc trackers, added odt versions of the files, and added a README.

2024-05-21: Added a new Structured Episode Tracker document that is a stylized fillable PDF! You can make a copy to maintain lists for structured episodes digitally or print out sheets and do it by hand. If printed, I recommend double-sided and flip on the long edge where you also bind it to make it work like a calendar. This is optimized for color printers so as to account for bleed (edges fade to white).

2024-05-25: Added a new Game Tracker document that is a stylized fillable PDF! As with the Structured Episode Tracker, this document can be printed, in whole or in part, to be used manually or you make a copy and use the fillable form feature to track digitally.

I just finished reading through it in its entirety, and I’m impressed. The use of the Narrative Dice in the oracles and tables is well-designed and seems to synergize better with Genesys/Star Wars than the Mythic GM Emulator or Adventure Crafter do [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
