YOU WAKE UP.

You sit among trees, lying on soft pine needles.

Your clothes are torn, your hands are scratched. You’re in pain. You don’t know how you got here. And you don’t know who you are.

There’s a dim, pulsing yellow light at the top of the hill, nearby.

Something is very wrong.

Will you figure out what happened in time to avoid what is coming?

“Kane’s Tone” is a modern cosmic horror scenario for 2-4 players and one Keeper.  It’s designed for a single, intense three-hour session that you will never forget.

Kudos to the designer.

Can't leave an official review as I was a player rather than the purchaser but this was an excellent game to play. For a player it is not exactly replayable as you won't capture the same feelings of being clueless and confused but I think one could re-run for new people very enjoyably to see the different permutations as each play could be hugely different depending on which person goes where and when or which facet of info they focus on at the time. My experience (as the curly haired character) was the prompts and clues are all sufficiently vague that you build up highly plausible theories then those theories take sudden turn based on some extra info, then the theory doubles back on itself. Speaking with the GM afterwards to understand things a bit better, I asked if there was any subtle guidance intended to drive us in certain directions as it felt like what each of us did must have been specifically intended since in the moment it seemed to create strongest possible tension...See more

Hi Orlando, is it okay if I run Kane's tone at Dreieichcon, a german convention for p&p gaming in november? I ran it with my regular group recently and absolutely loved it, and with how there's no character creation or reading-up to do here, I think it would make a fantastic convention game too.

Hello again, I played at Dreieichcon last night and it was one of my best games ever, really. 2 out of 4 players had no or almost no experience with Cthulhu, but your scenario played out very well for them. All players totally were into their roles and all the secrets that come with them (I gave them the thoughts as individual printed handouts) and they had a blast. The discussions and player-vs-Player dynamics created an atmosphere where I even had to moderate their enthusiasm a bit, just to make sure we didn't disrupt othet games in the room. I can highly recommend playing Kane's Tone at cons! And I'll leave a real Review soon. Is there a way to give you some more detailled Feedback though? It's spoilers all around, but I did change a few things and would like to share my thoughts on those with you.

Is there a Portuguese translation? I’d like to run it for people in Portugal. Since Orlando is Portuguese I figured there would be a chance that a translation existed

Sorry, I am Portuguese, but currently there is no translation in Portuguese. I can easily translate all the text, but doing the layout again and the handouts is much more difficult and costly… if you have trouble with understanding it in English, please contact me and I will try to help you.

No worries, I don't *need* a translation, it's just that I live in Portugal and run games for the local RPG club in Leiria, and it would be nice to be able to do it in Portuguese with translated handouts, since some of the people have a little difficulty with English.

I won't review it until I've run it but if it plays half as well as it reads I can't wait.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
