It Takes This Long

ADD TO WISHLIST >

You're a couple, or maybe siblings, or lifelong friends. But something has happened between you that threatens to tear you apart. Maybe it's infidelity, or you're in love with the same person, or you fall on different ethical sides about resurrecting dinosaurs for a theme park.

To make matters worse, you're also stranded together on a mysterious island.

It Takes This Long is a two-player GM-less TTRPG that requires zero prep and takes 2-3 hours to play. Play Cup Pong (beer pong without the beer) or roll 2d6 to struggle to survive! Randomly encounter a Big Trouble that's trying to kill you and the Island's mystery, then combine them into one of 36 unique climaxes. The choices you make affect your relationship and change what happens in the path of your story.

Play Cup Pong (beer pong without the beer) or roll 2d6 to struggle to survive! Randomly encounter a Big Trouble that's trying to kill you and the Island's mystery, then combine them into one of 36 unique climaxes. You'll make choices that affect two tracks: Relationship and Survival. You also have three Needs (food, shelter, and health) that affect your Survival track. Sometimes your Relationship and Survival affect each other, and sometimes you'll have to choose between one or the other.

If your Survival track falls to the bottom, you're about to die! Your only hope is for your partner to make a sacrifice to save you. If you don't make it, they'll have to go on without you.

If your Relationship tracks are high at the end of the game, you'll forgive each other and leave with your rift mended. If someone's Relationship track falls to the bottom... they won't wait for the Island to finish the other one off.

This game uses two tools for making sure everyone has a good time: Prelude to Play by Fighter Guy Studios and the “X Card” by John Stavropoulos.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
