Water Vehicles Volume 2

ADD TO WISHLIST >

On worlds across Charted Space, the lure and mystery of the oceans has drawn explorers, scientists, vacationers, and the miliary. All are attracted to the waters, but for different reasons.

This volume contains eight illustrated watercraft, detailed by the Traveller Vehicle design system. Seven of these craft are provided with full deckplans, should Travellers ever find themselves in conflict on the high sea.

Included in this volume are the following designs:

The Nixie personal watercraft, capable not just of high-speed travel on the surface, but can also be used to explore under the surface, or even take to the skies on gravitic lifters.

The Calypso minisub, an ultra-deep diving scientific and commercial submersible, capable of diving far deeper than even the limits of Terra’s oceans. (Includes deckplan)

The Mariner fishing boat, for Travellers who wan to slip under the radar. This basic vessel is found on most worlds at a lower technology level, and hydrographics or 2 or higher. (Includes deckplan)

The Haven Marine R50 Lifeboat, a classic Ridged Inflatable Boat (RIB), used for countless purposes across uncounted worlds including even the intended purpose, rescue. (Includes deckplan)

The Valek JD-100 power cruiser is a luxurious cabin cruiser used for pleasure and work. I can be fitted to support only a couple, or else up to six in more spartan accommodations. (Includes deckplan)

The Iconic Yachts Sabre 100 is an extremely luxurious vessel, with an almost sybaritic interior. The sleek design with the outriggers contains not just the water jets for propulsion, but gravitic lift-and-drive systems for high speed flight. As an expnsive vessel that can go just about anywhere, the Sabre is also armed. Armament varies by law level, but it is enough to ward off most pirates. (Includes deckplan)

The River Queen, a steam-driven paddleboat, was invented on Foster’s World, but similar Industrial-era designs are used on low-technology worlds across the Imperium. (Includes deckplan)

The Tethys Marine U=50 is a civilian submarine equipped with limited armament to ward off pirates and raiders, but insufficient for actual combat. The large airlock and drone complement allow it serve as a mobile support base for underwater projects like mining, cable-laying, and habitat construction.

The Buccaneer Armed Sloop is the lowest-tech vessel in this volume, a wind-powered ship armed with black powder cannons and protected by a heavy wooden hull. Fast for its type, and well-armed, it is a favourite with pirates and privateers on low-tech worlds.

This volume also includes new weapons, drones, and rules.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
