At the centre of the coastal city of Therantyr lies a colossal amphitheatre – the Therantyne Imperial Colloquy – known as the Pit. The best combatants throughout the Known World flock to make their names in one of the Pit’s Hollows – dug-outs rented out to Pit-Bosses. A Fighter’s dream is to take part in combat before the baying thousands who attend the spectacles taking place at this theatre.

Titan’s Vow is a game for two or more Players. You take on the role of a Pit Boss, and it is your job to manage your Fighters, your facilities and the reputation of your Hollow. Use any means at your disposal to climb to the top, for the world of mortal entertainment may be as cutthroat as it is glorious.

In addition to this Rulebook you will need two six-sided dice (2d6), notepaper (or a word processing document), a space to play, a representation printable Battle-Mat (included with the download for this Rulebook), and counters or miniatures to represent combatants. Digital and printable Hollow Management and Fighter Sheets are also included with the download for this Rulebook.

The Battle-Mat and print-and-play Paperstock Miniatures (also included) is set for the 25mm-28mm scale of miniatures. You may use your own fantasy/historical/ancient/medieval themed miniatures, from any range. There is no need to represent specific weapons or armour possessed by a combatant – the miniature may instead represent a snapshot of the combatant in time. You may of course choose to model each combatant accurately, with specific decals and colour code. The choice is yours. There are many stunning ranges of miniatures out there, and a wide variety of such were used during the play-testing of this game.

Species and gender are purely an aesthetic choice within Titan’s Vow, and do not impact play in any way.

The Known World is home to many species; humans, orcs, minotaurs, elves, dwarves, lizardfolk, and caprids to name but a few. The list of known peoples is extensive, and the potential for those yet to be encountered cannot be overestimated.

Despite it’s roots in violence and bloodshed, the Pit is seen as a beacon of hope by many. It is a place where honour is valued and differences in gender and species do not impede a person’s potential. It is also a generator of wealth for many, for with high risk comes great reward.

People from far and wide come to the Pit, and the Hollows represent a variety in terms of the expression of violence. A Pit Boss who favours the coarse and jagged aesthetic of the barbarian may make space in their Hollow for a high-born clad in polished armour, seeking glory. Rivalry is fierce, but mutual respect is ever-present.

All who enter the Arena know what is at stake, and what it means to compete.

Play in Titan’s Vow is conducted by Bout and each Bout is broken down into three Stages; Management, Action, and Aftermath.

For Play to commence, roll 2d6. The Player with the highest result begins their Turn first. Each step is resolved by Stage and per Player, e.g. Player One resolves their Trainer Actions, then Player Two resolves their Trainer Actions, and so forth.

Some Rules in Titan’s Vow are universal and apply in every Stage and to every type of Bout.

A result of 2 (Snake Eyes) on 2d6 can never be modified.

The Weapons and Armour of slain Fighters, Pit Fighters and Icons belong to the Pit. There is no looting or recovering the Weapons and Armour of the fallen.

A combatant’s AR or DR may never fall below 0.

Though Bout Selection is a part of the Management Stage, the Pit may be used to stage any kind of Exhibition Bout devised by Pit Bosses – the only guidelines for such being that all Parties involved agree on stipulated Rules Of Engagement, and that Purse and Rewards do not exceed that of Icon Bouts.

The overall aim of the game is to gain Mob Rating, but there are many means by which a Hollow’s success is measured.

Combatant – Anyone taking part within a Bout; Fighter, Pit Fighter and Icon

Fighter – Combatant controlled by a Player

Pit Fighter – Combatant controlled by the Pit

Icon – Seasoned Pit Fighter controlled by the Pit

Hollow – The training grounds which you, the Player, own

Combat Turn – An exchange of Combat concluding with an Outcome, within a Bout and during the Action Stage

Killing Blow – An Outcome which results in the death of the Defender

Panoply – A full suit of Armour which provides protection for each part of the body

Bout – An entire sequence of play, from Trainer Actions to Balance Treasury

Hello, I received an email for this title for the previous purchase of a Bundle price...but when I come to the page for Titan's Vow I keep seeing the $5.99 price. How can I fix this? Thank you.

Great question, it definitely should be $1 for previous purchasers of the Bundle as advised in the email. Having examined the problem from a number of different ways, I have no idea how to fix this. For ease of purpose I've dropped the main price to $0.99, and will leave it as same for the foreseeable future. I'd rather everyone had it an accessible price than purchasers of the Bundle not get it at an advertised price. Many thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Oh wow, thank you for giving it a try. Titan's Vow was my first foray into something other than ttrpg so please let me know any thoughts and feedback. Much appreciated.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
