The Lost Treasure Of Akhenaten

When Clarice, a rising archaeologist, makes a surprise breakthrough in her search for the Lost Treasure of Akhenaten, she suddenly disappears. It’s up to your family to find her! Be careful, though, as there’s dangers along the way…but fortune and glory, too, if you can save her and recover the Lost Treasure of Akhenaten!

Your family will meet various characters from helpful museum curators to thieves in the marketplace. They will be encouraged to speak a few Arabic words to gain the trust of some of those characters while also learning geographical sites along the Nile River. Although, they’ll be exposed to many different learning opportunities, The Lost Treasure of Akhenaten is first and foremost FUN! They’ll need to spend their cash wisely (and avoid getting robbed from thieves) if they hope to navigate the different challenges as they make decisions moving throughout the adventure story. They’ll even have the opportunity to play Senet, the ancient board game of the pharaohs!

So, how does it ACTUALLY work.

The ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ works in conjunction with a long list of potential activities and dice rolling that you can set up in your home as PART of the story. You get to choose which of these activities you’d like to include to make the adventure in the story come alive. For example, if when you family gets to the portion in the story where they must look for a specific Egyptian cartouche in a tomb, you’ll have the option to PRINT out the cartouche from the download and hide it somewhere appropriate in your home. So, when you get to that part in the story, your family will get to actually get up and go look for it if they want to continue the story! The adventure will come alive with every activity you include.

Easy to follow instructions ensures that you have everything you need to set up every activity before it’s time to read the story! Simply print out the pages in the ‘Printables’ section as directed, go through the Adventure Script so that you’re familiar with the instructions as described and you’re set.

Points are also earned along the way…because, hey, kids love to earn points!

This adventure was adapted from the Family Adventure series created by Joe Dean, a professional treasure hunt designer, who staged elaborate themed adventures while raising his three sons (now in their 20’s.) Through these adventures he taught them foreign languages, world geography and life lessons that promoted teamwork among the brothers, having a strong character and embracing other cultures while traveling the world.
