Don't just play a role, write the script

Your Saga Awaits

Embark upon your own epic Sagas with Agêratos, an Oneirostoria A.E.O.N. (RPG system) designed to unleash your imagination. With Agêratos, experience collective storytelling and exciting adventures in worlds borne entirely of your imagination.

Third Person Omniscience

Experience your Sagas as both Author and character. As an Author, clash or collaborate with your peers as you compete for Saga control. As your character, explore and bear witness to your Saga’s unfolding events, immersing yourself in its intrigue and drama.

Control Your Destiny

Seize Saga control through Authorial Agency, utilise Focus to shift the narrative spotlight, engage in Conflict to overcome adversity, and employ Foreshadowing to sow the seeds of future Saga events.

Storytellers, Not Story

Dealing with which Author has Saga control and the influence they can exert, Agêratos allows your imagination alone to determine your Saga’s narrative details: Mediæval fantasy to gritty sci-fi, tense noir thriller to visceral horror—truly, the only limit is your imagination.

Forge Your Own Worlds

Spark your creativity with a versatile tool, extensive discussions, and a wealth of ideas to create your own settings. Then, through collective storytelling evolve your concepts into legendary worlds. While this book does not contain a comprehensive setting, it offers several detailed examples to guide and inspire.

Key Features:

Your Saga, Your Way
• The Narrative Framework (the core rules) are a mere 42 pages, and allow for Sagas of any genre, any setting, any style—the only limit is your imagination.
• Or, customise your gaming experience with a wealth of Overlays (rule add-ons) covering another 60 pages. These range from slight tweaks to major overhauls. All designed to adapt to your group's style of play:

  • The Protagonist Overlay: Sagas are shifted from the Author level to the Character level. This gives a more traditional character-centric experience as Player Characters now gain Assets and Experiences—equipment, skills, talents, allies, enemies, and the like. Sticking with literary themes, these are all applied through the Active or Passive Voice.
  • Bibliomancy Overlay: Replaces the use of playing cards with books! Let your chef character be guided by a cookbook or your wizard by an occultic tome. Or, as an Author, be guided by those whose literary works mirror your Saga’s themes, such as Leo Tolstoy or Erich Maria Remarque for war and morality.
  • Dice Overlay: Replaces the use of playing cards with dice to help with familiarity or online gameplay.
  • Mantle Overlay: The Monad’s (GM’s) role becomes a Mantle that any Player can don. Drawing inspiration from collective writing, it acknowledges that all authors have strengths and weaknesses. Also, there is the element of support: Players with little experience of running games can gain some, all the while being supported by those with more.
  • Wild Card Overlay: Turns the role of the Monad over to card draws and random chance, allowing you to play alone or to add an unpredictable element to your group Sagas.

Finally, spark your own creativity and imagination with the 100 page Planting Seeds chapter: a tool for creating your own Saga Seeds (setting ideas). While the tool is only a few pages long, it is followed by extensive discussions and a wealth of ideas adaptable to any genre or role-play experience. Also included are several detailed examples of such Saga Seeds to either inspire you or to serve as the first stepping stone on your own, unique Saga.

Jump Straight In
• You have one main ‘stat’: Authorial Agency. This is distributed between two sub-‘stats’: Proactive Agency and Reactive Agency.
• To get started: distribute your Authorial Agency, write a Character Synopsis (detailed or brief), and that’s it!

Author Your Own Saga
• Spend your Focus points to shift the narrative spotlight onto the Saga events you’d like to see.
• Upon seizing Saga Control, as long as you keep to the Saga’s setting and theme, you can introduce or remove narrative elements (characters, events, and such) as you wish.

Champion Your Narrative Ideas
• Engage in Conflict: strategic turn based gaming mechanics using playing cards to resolve both contradictory narrative ideas and adversarial Saga situations.
• ’Rules light’ to quickly determine gaming progress and make way for your role-play and narration.

Anticipation and Suspense
• Employ Foreshadowing to try and predict future Saga events with accuracy and be rewarded.
• Either collaborate with fellow Authors or pit your wits against them.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
