Adventure Ahead! is a One-Page Tabletop RPG system that provides a super fast route to start fantasy adventures at the table for both players and GMs. The system prioritizes fast mechanics to keep immersion as the focus of your sessions with an easy "doing stuff" system and a lean and fast-paced combat structure. With a page and some six-sided die you'll be ready to adventure, explore dungeons, or just make some gold.

Features:

  • Rules light and simple. Player stats are used directly (no modifiers to calculate) and GM has to keep track of less with monsters.
  • Super fast character creation. Characters can also be rolled randomly.
  • Unique magic system with backfire mechanics. Cast as many spells as you want but be prepared for unintended consequences.
  • Easy "doing stuff" system for making checks.
  • Players roll more than GMs in combat to keep player engagement up and give the GM less to resolve themselves on monster turns.
  • Rules for players, GMs, and a character sheet all included on 1 page.
  • My "cute" artwork.

For saves it says: When enemies attack, players have to roll the enemy’s level or higher on a Save or take damage. I have a question about the Black Knight. it says Rolling a 6 on the die to save doesn’t automatically pass. But 6 beats the Black Knight's level of 5 so it would. Can you clarify what this means for the Black Knight's ability?

Same for the Fighter, it says Rolling a 1 on the die to attack doesn't autmatically miss. What does it do?

Absolutely! Essentially it has the fighter's ability but reverse for players, so theirs rolls of 6 could still fail if theoretically they had a -2 penalty to the attack.

You are correct, normally a player would still hit, but if it's level is raised by something like a bard, a 6 could results in a miss since you can build a PC with a -1 to attack.

Since rolling a 1 is not an automatic miss a fighter would get a result of 1 + their attack bonus. For example, a fighter with a +2 bonus to melee attacks can't miss an attack against a level 3 monster or lower.

Thanks for the clarification! For some reason it just didn't click in my head until reading your responses. Makes perfect sense. I have been looking for a one-page system that gets players into the game quickly and can be expanded without breaking the game. It really gives the players the ability to get into TTRPGs without needing anything more than one page of rules. Plus, it is perfect for new GMs to run a game without having to worry about having the knowledge of multiple books because everything is on that one page. And like I said, there is plenty of room for the DM to make up a new rule without being in danger of unbalancing the game. Good job!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
