Hello M. Benoit,
A question.
Regarding weapon damage, it is mentioned in several places that you can "roll damage" (page 24, in the combat flowchart for example). However, the damage is fixed according to the category of the weapon. I don't really understand this single point.
I may have missed something on this subject.
Thank you

Let me help clarify this point about weapon damage in D6 Forge. You've made a good observation - there appears to be inconsistency between the references to "rolling damage" and the fixed damage values for weapons.

Looking at the rules, weapons indeed have fixed base damage values (Light: 1, Medium: 2, Heavy: 3) as detailed in the equipment chapter. The reference to "rolling damage" in the combat flowchart on page 24 is an error that slipped through editing. The correct procedure should follow the "Dealing Damage" section which states that you:

1. Use weapon's base damage
2. Add strength bonus (if applicable)
3. Subtract target's armor
4. Apply to target's HP

Thank you for bringing this to my attention! To avoid any confusion: weapon damage is fixed based on the category, not rolled. This was designed to keep combat quick and predictable, fitting with the game's core philosophy of "single die simplicity."

Thanks for the reply.
To complete, we also find a reference on page 24 in the "Example: Using Multiple Dice" section.
"Having three dice of different colors lets you roll attack,
damage, and location simultaneously, speeding up combat
resolution"

Yeah for that example I'm basically just saying that if you want to speed things up then you can use one die for each and roll them together for faster play but you don't need to. It's just a suggestion. None of my rules are set in stone. If you feel that you don't like a certain part or it doesn't seem like it goes along with how you prefer to play then by all means, don't use it. In the end it's your game and you should be able to play it any which way you want. All my rules are is just a guide.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
