The year is 2024, and the city of London has been engulfed by the Pit. Nearly everyone in the city has vanished, but a handful of survivors have emerged from the ruins. They are musicians, rockstars and metalheads, who survived the collapse by making deals with the Infernal Choirs who dwell in the Labyrinth below. The Labyrinth is an impossible maze of flesh, rock and ancient machinery fused into the bones of the world. The Infernal Choirs are a lineage of seventy-two Archdevils seeking to unearth its secrets- to do that, their music and black magic need vessels. That’s where the Necromusicians come in.

A Necromusician is an undead rockstar, having experienced First Death and selling their Second to the Archdevils of the Labyrinth. They wield necromagical powers, channelled through their instruments and their raw charisma, and are driven by their infernal masters to explore the Labyrinth and seek out its mysteries. And to look and sound damn good while doing it. Necromusicians almost exclusively play rock, metal and punk- other genres struggle to channel the magic of the Archdevils, though the odd classical bloke gets a pass. They use the energy of their music to bind undead servants to their will, control and sculpt flesh, unleash terrifying sorcerous feats and strengthen their own bodies beyond the limits of mortal men. In Dead Metal Rhapsody, these undead rockstars are YOU.

Dead Metal Rhapsody is a roleplaying game about living (or un-living) fast and preferably dying as old as possible. It channels the anarchic and hardcore spirit of classic heavy metal, punk and hard rock, with a dash of gothic fantasy and urban horror mixed in. As a Necromusician, you’ll wield incredible powers, explore impossible places and maybe even make next month’s rent if the checks keep pouring in!
