Updating POD books still involves pulling them offline for up to six weeks, because you have to start the submission and proofing process from scratch. Therefore, I typically only make those updates for worthwhile changes. As of this writing, there are just two very minor typos identified in the print errata. You can view them via the downloadable readme.

Was the old version taken down? While more choice is always good, sometimes too many options can be a mind-flood.

The old guide was also easy to print and use with the hardback (until my print arrived). This one looks rather unfriendly to that.

Yes, the previous version is not visible to avoid confusion, but the files should still be in your library if you were a previous purchaser. If not, and you would like them, feel free to reach out via the Tomkin Press website and I will send you the PDFs.

In terms of printability, with the exception of things like chapter spreads (which can be excluded when you run the print job), I think it's on par with the previous release. This one has some sidebar elements that are arguably ink-hungry, but the layout isn't as reliant on spot images as Lodestar V1. So, probably a bit of a wash.

Hi, Alex. Costs for shipping and any local VAT will vary by location. These books are print-on-demand, and printed and shipped from North America and the UK. If you go through the checkout process, you should see what the costs are for your location.

As Shawn said above, it depends on what country you live in (the delivery address country).
The book will print and ship from either the USA, UK, or Australia, depending on the delivery address. The easiest way to check shipping is to toss the print format in your Cart, enter checkout and enter your shipment address to see the shipment options.
No customs of course for USA, UK or Australia deliveries. For Canada and the EU, any customs charges are included in your checkout price and you will have no customs charges upon delivery. Other countries vary.

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
