I do not own a Longer printer, so cannot advise on its ability to print miniatures. It is a clone of the basic Ender design, so my Cura profile and a .2mm nozzle should give decent results on it, but I cannot guarantee that.

Hello! Yes, most of the tips are applicable to any FDM printer, but there are some specific to Bambu Studio. For the P1S the flow ratio tips will help you dial in our custom profiles. :)

Will there be any advice on seams in the next version of this document? I was setting the seams to be the back of the model in the slicer so they never showed on the characters face. I'm not sure this is the giving me the best quality overall though.

If you're using Bambu Studio, I have 'aligned' selected in my custom profile.

Wonderful, possibly indispensable guide to FDM printing, especially with the A1/A1 mini. Just love it! One wish; if you could add a version # to the PDF so that I can make sure that I am looking at the most up-to-date version, that would be even better. In any case, thanks much!

Thank you for commenting! We currently put the version number on the PDF file name itself, the most current version is 'FDG0448_FDG_Guide_to_printing_FDM_minis_V1-3.pdf', and v1-4 will be released in July (more info on handling stringing, new filament reviews.) :)

Really enjoyed this and it's helped with my printing already. I wasn't able to find a video about using water effects to help smooth surfaces, could this subject be a future video please.

How applicable is this guide to other printers? I know for a long time you've been focused on the specific printers you use, so I'm wondering if the info here is easily transferred to, for example, a Prusa MK3 with PrusaSlicer?

A lot of this is general info applicable to any FDM printer, and many of specific settings discussed (not all) are common to both Bambu Studio and Cura. :)

I don't understand the cooling paragraph on page 3 as it pertains to the Bambu A1. The two A1 cooling fans are facing downward so you can't can rotate the model any specific way for optimal results. Any clarification on this or since this guide targets the A1 what is the optimal direction for your model?

Hey Troy! What I have found for the A1/A1 mini is having the critical details face left/right (so an average mini is rotated 90˚ on Z axis) seems to work best. The airflow is strongest coming from those two directions on the A1 series.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
