From the Platiunum-bestselling author of Six Seasons in Sartar, The Company of the Dragon, and The Seven Tailed Wolf, and winner of the 2022 Greg Stafford Memorial Award for Gloranthan Fandom, comes a new campaignof Gloranthan horror, Illumination, and corruption.

PAVIS. 1622 S.T.

The city teeters on a knife’s edge, ready to fall. In the Great Winter, refugees flood the streets. The granaries are empty. Violence escalates as hunger grows. There is no work to be had. No hope.

Then the Esrolian woman arrives.

Unva Prithverna is hiring, putting together an expedition deep into the Wastes. Stories of a lost city, of a goddess forgotten to Time, stir in her wake. For your adventurers, she offers salvation.

Or, perhaps, damnation.

Based on the sensational Lunar pillow book of the same name, within the pages of THE FINAL RIDDLE you shall find:

- An alternate system of Lunar Illumination, compatible with THE LUNAR WAY but tailored for this campaign.

- New rules for running horror-themed adventures in RUNEQUEST, focused on the corrosive forces of Chaos.

- The Weird Wastes, rules for exploring the Wastelands not as a simple desert, but a Chaos-shattered desolation where reality crumbles.

- Rules for Epic Passions, overpowering drives for tragic characters.

- Pavis in the Great Winter, a scenario that introduces your adventurers and the key NPCs.

- Riddles in the Dust, a trek deep into the Wastes where every league brings greater horror and madness.

- Six optional episodes of encounters along the way.

- The Final Riddle, a scenario that brings the adventurers at last to the lost city of Shum Sarzum, and face to face with its terrible secrets.

- Pre-generated characters based on the protagonists of the original Lunar pillow book.

- Detailed scholarly quotes on the importance of the book, and its role in ancient Glamour.

Welcome to the heart of darkness. Welcome to THE FINAL RIDDLE.

NOTE: Material in this book deals with mature themes. GMs are advised to adjust their presentation of this subject matter in accordance with their own and their group’s comfort levels.

This scenario seems better suited for Heroquest than RuneQuest. It doesn't seem to take any interest in or advantage of RQ's game mechanisms. I know there's a new Chaos Check in there, but that's the lowest hanging fruit in mechanism design. It's bolti [...]

At last! Since it was first hinted at I’ve patiently waited for this title, and let Andrew know very occasionally on Facebook :) Finally, we have a piece of the excellence that incorporates at its very heart illumination, and the juxtaposition of Nys [...]

What I love about the author's work is that not only it is very well written and easy to comprehend, but he also boldly and innovatively combines the world and the game system. So this is an actual roleplaying game supplement. [...]

First hinted at in Chaosium's Nomad Gods and Cults of Prax, the Chaos-blighted Wastes of Genertela have always been kept to the fringes, rarely touched on in detail in any work. Finally, we have a work that tackles the Wastes head-on and plunges us int [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
