100 Fantasy Urban Ruins

Towns and cities in a fantasy setting can have ruins just like any other place, and in a fantasy setting some of these ruins may have been caused by much odder reasons than mundane ones. This supplement has 100 different ruins for a fantasy urban area, some of them distinctly odd and some potentially dangerous. They can be used to add background details for an urban area or as potential adventure hooks.

Here are some sample results:

• Lightning rods form a ring around what appears to have been the former home of a wizard. Every now and then, a bolt of lightning shoots from the building to ground itself on one of the lightning rods surrounding it. Anyone who enters the perimeter formed by the rods will find the lightning striking them instead.
• Little remains of the building that used to sit on this plot bar a few fragments of overgrown wall and, covered by the underbrush, a trapdoor leads to a forgotten cellar.
• Little remains of this building except for a hole in the ground which, by the looks of it, was the foundation on which the place was built.
• Most of the building's debris has been cleared away from this plot, with the best remaining stones having been used to divide the lot up. There are no weeds or undergrowth, as the lot has been subdivided into allotments by nearby residents, and fruits and vegetables are growing in them.
• Most of this former building has been destroyed, and the ruins left behind present a curiously sterile appearance. Examining them more closely reveals that there isn't a single living thing on the building and its land; not a blade of grass, a speck of lichen or a single insect.
