Excellent resource. Definitely helped me flesh out some broader domain and skirmish play.

This book is the most well researched book on all things nautical that I have ever seen. I own both the hard copy and the pdf and I can't recommend it highly enough! If you ever plan run a sea adventure, or if you're just curious about ye olde boat life, you need to buy this. It is going to be a great resource for years to come.

Easy to used, complete and yet succinct. A simple conversion system that could actually go both ways, from Mothership to Traveller or from Traveller to Mothership.
It doesn't cover the weapons, but that's pretty easy to do on the fly.
Even includes sanity and panic rules for Traveller.
I'm not crazy about the 'pamphlet' format and I wish there was something easier to print out - none of my Traveller stuff is in this format and the Mothership stuff is harder to use at the table in that format, but that doesn't affect its basic utility.
Hands down the best supplement for Mothership ever released.

This is THE best solo guide I have found to date. It filled in all of the blanks for me that couldn't be filled between my RPG and The mythic game master emulator deck. This has revolutionized my solo play and I am having fun now rather than bumping up against walls and stalling out. All you need is your favorite fantasy RPG and this. The only reason why I use the GME deck is because I am so familiar with it but the the oracle in this book would be just fine. This book helps you create the dungeon and hex map as you go. It helps you manage "sidekicks" in a way that makes it feel more real. Like that thief that is helping you might leave your party if you keep pissing him off. There are prompts for descriptions that help you imagine the dungeon. Thank you to the author for sharing this method. Well done!!!!

This work is nothing less than a masterpiece for B/X. Though some things have been covered in other works such as stronghold building, domain rulership, and mass combat. There are aspects of these things rarely seen anywhere else. Within you will find these and more presented in a medieval authentic format using the "those who fight, those who pray, and those who labor" feudal society context presented in a believable manner to include such things as demi-humans, magic, monsters, etc. City domains stress the historically accurate importance of burghers and guilds. There are appendices covering everything from notice boards in taverns, to generating settlements, nobles, factions, guilds, and heraldry. All that is just Part 1! The next parts includes new combat options, new weapons, new classes, wilderness survival, city exploration, herbal and poison crafting, and so much more. Even if you do not use this for high level play a DM could use this work to create and run a kingdom, politics, events, and news in the background making their setting come alive. I could not recommend this more.

It's not bad. It's not terribly good either. A lukewarm OK. The system is not terribly complicated but not really simple either. I dislike the base-building aspect with bonuses from different buildings. I don't think the economic effects of some of the buildings or generally have been properly thought out. The mass-combat system is not exactly weak but it doesn't really compare to options either I think. I don't recommend paying for this rather than options but as long as it's free it can serve.

Thanks for taking the time to read Demesnes & Domination! I appreciate the review about specific rules! Even though the settlement investment rules or the mass combat rules didn't meet your expectation, maybe other content in the book is more to your liking! Thanks again!! |

Reminiscent of some of the early fundamental texts of the game, in both good and bad ways:
full of ideas! far too many ideas.
jumbled, disorganised, hard to follow; really needs an editor
reads as if it has been designed but not developed.
Great that playtesters were credited, but were these other DMs? Or players, with the author being the only one who directly engaged with this material?

The title of this book doesn't adequately summarize its excellence; I compared four works and ultimately decided that this book's Mass Combat were the most appropriate.
Although I paid 10 dollars (PDF now free) for this and don't care about the "ACKS II" boycott, this book holds the real deal.

This book is amazing! It covers everything for high level play, the art is great, and the layout is so old school. What more do you need?
I love the rules for running a domain, and the rules for mass combat are well thought out.
