Expedition to the Matto Grosso
by Royce [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 06/18/2025 23:18:31

A fantastic setting with a great spin on the "What happened to Colonel Fawcett and the Lost City of Z expedition?" mystery from the 1920s.

As well as all the information a Keeper and Players need for the adventure, there's also rules for air travel over the jungle as well as travel on foot, which can easily be used for other wilderness-based adventures a Keeper might be running, too.

My Little Sister: A Call of Cthulhu Scenario

we loved it. players had a blast. I did give them some characteristics to help them roleplay before they got their memories and it worked perfectly. using the mutants to advance the plot when the players stall is great to keep the plot moving.

Shocking Sabotage
by Daniel [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 06/18/2025 02:45:21

I played this scenario at the Chicago Steampunk Exposition and our group had an absolute blast. The 1893 Chicago World's Fair is a rich setting for a Call of Cthulhu scenario. One of the most effective aspects of the game is how players receive their own individual goal, some of which directly conflict with those of other players. These opposing goals led to some spirited interactions, and everyone got unusually invested in their characters. This is a true sandbox scenario, so the shape of the story is heavily dependent on player decisions. Two different groups could have wildly different experiences depending on the choices they make. Beyond the gameplay, the PDF is polished and professional, with clean design and helpful illustrations, and all of the maps and handouts come as separate digital files in addition to being in the main PDF. For Keepers looking for a scenario with a rich historical setting and mechanics that encourage player engagement, this is an excellent choice.

My Little Sister: A Call of Cthulhu Scenario
by David W. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 06/15/2025 23:15:35

So I ran this with my Melbourne group and it went so well. I think what was most telling, as players started to figure out the huge "Running Man" style twist we had real emotional impact from the players. Some began to become enthused and try to play up their coolness amd audienmce other appeal, otehrs were horrified and begane to feel despondant and try to wreck the set up and sets in frustration and protest, which I think relaly encapsulated the horror of the emotional manipulation implicit in reality TV so well. It is a straight forward narrative and map, suitable to one session, but the twist it huges as is the potential for the trail of clues you can leave behind and ability to mess with the players.

China Clipper
by Kim [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 06/15/2025 22:37:50

I love Flying Boats and when I saw that Royce had written a source book follow-on to his Kangaroo Route publication, this one covering the American Clippers, I had to have it. And I am not disappointed. This book is packed with info, “ period” maps and drawings, and even some solid story hooks and character portraits. The production standards are excellent, too. I highly recommend Clipper as an addition to your Cthulhu library.

Beyond the Edge of Darkness
by Jazmin [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 06/15/2025 15:28:51

My players enjoyed this one.

One minor gripe for me is the typos, and having a bit more information on the the npcs (Mourina and Bertrand's friends), players having an indepth conversation with the npcs, it would have been a bit easier (for me) if there was more than a sentence or two on each of the npcs, and what they can tell the players.

Nochet: Adventurer's Guide (RuneQuest)
by Taliesin [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 06/15/2025 03:46:03

If you have characters coming from Nochet, and surrounding areas (Esrolia), or they're going to Nochet, you need this book (along with the first in the series - Queen of Cities).

Character creation is far more in-depth, with some really good reasoning (and associated benefits)- better than RQG, and has a better, more beneficial Family History section, with interesting options!!! This goes for both the extended Family History section, and the quickie version. One really interesting aspect is the Early Life Events - for the character, AND main parent, AND grandparent - all of which add something to the main character! Along with a couple of new Occupations. (Caveat - IF you're creating a standard human Esrolian... if you're after a non-human, or a Meldek, I hope Harald will put out something in the future focussing on them! After all, that's one of the great things about Runequest)

Then, the relationships (between Houses, and the Friends and Foes section) is more awesomeness added to the character creation, giving a feel for the person you're creating.

As an 'Adventurer's Guide', I like the more generalised material for those new to the city - especially the cruder maps to give to players (for a few clacks! Or pizza, coffee or whatever else the GM prefers), as well as other more detailed maps with and without names.

Once again, great use of artwork!!! And a good inclusion of NPCs, leads for adventures/scenarios with associated NPCs to get them started.

So, yet another masterpiece by Harald Smith, et al. and a MUST HAVE for anyone heading down south for a queen (or grandmother).

Nochet: Queen of Cities (RuneQuest)
by Taliesin [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 06/15/2025 03:10:17

Simply amazing!

If you're a GM running anything to do with Esrolia, and especially Nochet, you NEED to have this book! (And, if you're not, then once you get your hands on this, you'll change your mind and start using Nochet as your go to standard for a campaign base!!!!) The level of detail that's gone into it is unbelievable, both in depth and breadth. Not only for the physical aspect of the city itself (which is in phenomenal detail... area by area, even building by building!!!), but also personalities, houses, society, culture, a bit of politics - and a few GM useful ideas (events, daily life, etc).

Added to that is the artwork - a good mix of appropriate imagery from the internet, plus RQ specific hand drawings really make it a professional publication! This is one of the few books that I'd probably want to have in hard cover (obviously, as well as PDF for easy searching)

Along; with this you really should get the Adventurer's guide, but not as necessary unless players have Esrolian characters.

This book is almost as good - and perhaps more necessary than - the Guide to Glorantha. The additional, higher detailed map packs just add the cherry to the top. And also the added GM reference material.

This deserves more than merely 5 stars. It is simply the BEST Jonstown Compendium - or even official Chaosium product (perhaps bar that GtG) to cover a specific location.

(NB - it's NOT a scenario/adventure book, although it does drop a lot of hints and ideas for them)

(FTR, I have purchased all 3 of Harald Smith's Nochet books, and I'm giving 5 star reviews and full recommendations for all of them... (with only the Lhankor Mhy the only one that a GM wouldn't really need due solely to the specifics of the material)

The Haunting is my go-to introduction for Call of Cthulhu for new players, and these handouts really help bring that scenario to life. Lovely attention to detail, and you can't beat the value for the price.

Also, I could not find any template of this one. There was no information on anything of that place. Like most things in the dreamland... No info at all. I have to comeupo with names by my self. And many people dont care for the map creators names. Howerver. Im working on a map with and without names.

The Winter King (RuneQuest)
by Simon [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 06/12/2025 15:15:05

Good well-thought-out scenario. Something different, makes good use of some of the myths of Glorantha. We took two longish sessions to play through the whole thing. The background information, consideration of different player options and wise words I appreciated as a GM. Recommended.

China Clipper
by William [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 06/11/2025 13:42:24

The China Clipper by Royce Wilson is a source book for using the Pan-Am Airways flying boats, called Clippers in a Call of Cthulhu game. Set in the mid to late 1930s, this book is perfect for a Pulp Cthulhu game. It weighs in at 50 pages of material and a further 20 of handouts.

This book is a great follow-up, and indeed it connects with, Royce's first flying boat sourcebook The Kangaroo Route. In it, he provides information on the operations, accommodations, and quirks of using these iconic aircraft to get around. For me, probably the most valuable information was the amount of detail about the various stops. Each stop had a bit of history, some information about what might be found there, and then some adventure hooks. There are also random encounters for various locations along the way. The China Clipper also includes a section for converting the Chaosium adventure The Lightless Beacon.

The production quality is good. There are many period images and maps that will be very helpful to both keepers and investigators. The book could use a little proofreading to clean up some typos, but these are minor.

This book is a must if you want to include flying boats in your adventures or if you are running a pre-WWII campaign and is well worth the price.
