Zweihander is one of those games that, on the surface, is an awesome, neutral set grimdark tromp, but when you gwt to thw heart of it, it reveals itself to be a great aetting for just about any fantasy setting where stakes matter and heroes are forged in the game, not prepackaged superheroes weild9ng swords.
Being tough, but fair, the D10 system it uses is wonderfully balanced with plenty of room to be as firm/fair as a table needs to be, and building intricate mystery, hard hitting combat, and a magic system that doesnt give off the "video game" feel that many others do is very refreshing. For players and DMs looking to play something less D20centric, this is one of the first games I bring to the table.
All in all, Zweihander falls into my top 10 for Grimdark, and top 20 for games in general. When I want something dark, where stakes are high and heroes need to stay on their toes, I dont have to go far with Zweihander!...
