pixel_trans.gif Curseborne: Ashcan Edition I think the full version of this game has the potential to be a great game! This stripped-down version has me wanting more of all of it. Also, Storypath Ultra is a super fun game engine to use...for any genre.

pixel_trans.gif Feats of Exploration A wonderful resource for making exploration and problem solving more meaningful and rewarding. While also pushing players to take risks they otherwise might not have just to hit a feat. A great book and I look forward to getting any future publications.

Exalted: Essence
by Jeffrey
Publisher: Onyx Path Publishing
Date Added: 06/16/2024 09:21:22
pixel_trans.gif Exalted: Essence I was looking for a system that would let me tell the story of a misfit band of criminals becoming Pirate Lords, and also tell the story of a group of agents of heaven fighting a mysterious threat that was destabilizing the pillars of creation. This system delivered that, and a game where an exiled prince took over a city with his posse through the power of slam poetry. So it still holds the same crazy setting escapades that Exalted is known for, but what really impressed me was that it took people new to the system, and in one game's case, new to gaming in total. It was a far more digestible game than Exalted: Third Edition for new players. My biggest plus for the game is that it allows social characters with no combat skills to aid in physical combat AND it allows combat characters with no social skills to aid in social combat. And with only a modicum of cleverness, allows both types of characters to aid in investigation and sleuthing. ...

pixel_trans.gif Lost and Found: a travel scenario for Call of Cthulhu A cracking little scenario that can be played on its own or as part of a larger campaign (for which advice is given). I had the pleasure of playtesting it with the author and it was a blast!

Pendragon: Core Rulebook
by Pavel
Publisher: Chaosium
Date Added: 06/16/2024 01:21:29
pixel_trans.gif Pendragon: Core Rulebook Lots of typos and the fillable character sheets are fundamentally broken. This wasn't proofread or checked for bugs. Otherwise, I like it. I just wish it wasn't released haphazardly and without all of the books that it references in its text.

Loot the Body
by Thomas
Publisher: StoryForge RPG
Date Added: 06/15/2024 21:41:57
pixel_trans.gif Loot the Body I could read this from front to back to front again, and still can't comprehend not only the detail and devotion to the contents, but also the heart and care for this project as well. There is so much dedication in the quality of the content that it's almost intimidating, but never overwhelming. The variety in here isn't limited to joke items like half a theater ticket or 1d4 balls of pocket lint, it goes in clever and wild directions comparable to entire libraries of books of new items and even themes of items to draw from. Whatever your choice of system or campaign to play is, there are many somethings in here for you to get your money's worth. Please get a copy for yourself for either your DM relief or PC delightedness. It's worth your time....

Vagabond // Pulp Fantasy Roleplaying Game - Quickstart
by Will
Publisher: Land of the Blind
Date Added: 06/15/2024 20:54:31
pixel_trans.gif Vagabond // Pulp Fantasy Roleplaying Game - Quickstart I've been a 5e player since 2017, but I grew increasingly tired of parsing the paragraphs of text in every character feature, and all the idiosyncratic and illogical rules. At one point I wanted to DM, but I found all the lore implications of 5e's rules to be suffocating—and it didn't help that 5e's lack of support for DMs makes running the game a chore. When the OGL crisis hit, I started looking for systems that would be more fun to run and would be more neutral to my world's lore. Once I stumbled across Indestructoboy's development livestreams, I was hooked on the premise of a lean-and-mean system that distills rules down to the bare necessities, without sacrificing interesting complexity (as I feel many "rules-light" systems do). Vagabond executes this premise fantastically. I've followed development from the beginning, I have GMed several sessions with multiple groups, and I recently joined a group as a player. Vagabond deserves high praise on several aspects: 1. Mechanical design....

Ruins of Bonn Kanach
by Gary
Publisher: Chaosium
Date Added: 06/15/2024 19:19:08
pixel_trans.gif Ruins of Bonn Kanach This scenario is on the lower end of acceptability. I was able to use it without too much difficulty and the players enjoyed the session. The Good: The opening is strong. The map of Stone Cross is well appreciated; especially since the follow-on scenarios use the village. Lauren Whitemane is an interesting enough character. The initial encounter is very clever and plays well to the man-beast dynamic in the valley. The maps of the ruin interiors are functionally useful, but are lacking in detail. These maps would reasonably fit into an adventure written in the 1970s or 1980s, but are lacking for a modern audience. Most of the tactical maps fit well into the VTT environment and the scaling was reasonable. The map for the citadel, however, is way too big. The area descriptions underneath the arena are boring. The GM is supposed to randomly generate the contents of the room and any treasures that can be found. The randomly generated room contents are mostly one-line entries like "Large...
