Loot the Body
by P.S.O.
Publisher: StoryForge RPG
Date Added: 06/18/2024 10:22:07
pixel_trans.gif Loot the Body A gorgeous tome, beautifully illustrated throughout, and a true treasure trove for anyone who needs to have ideas for lots of loot at their fingertips. Besides, the book features an item with my name, which tickles that nasty little hidden core of self-importance deep inside of me enormously... ;-) The pdf already is quite stunning, but the quality of the softcover really blew me away - and I didn't even get the premium version.

The Longest Night (A Jumpstart for World of Darkness: Ghost Hunters)
by Guido A.
Publisher: Onyx Path Publishing
Date Added: 06/18/2024 10:12:22
pixel_trans.gif The Longest Night (A Jumpstart for World of Darkness: Ghost Hunters) **Review after actual play.** It took two evenings to complete, including generation of custom characters instead of using the pre-generated ones given in the scenario. Total actual play time was about 6 hours (not including character generation and chit-chat). I am an experienced GM/DM/Keeper/Storyteller. Players of mixed experience: two veteran roleplayers (but with little WoD experience), one less experienced one, and the last one was at his very first foray into tabletop roleplaying games. We had a very good and interesting time, especially the second evening, so it's 5/5 stars. As per description it is indeed perfect for one-shots and convention plays. But it's not very short, if the players are left to decide their line of action to some degree and without heavy-handing suggestions, so consider at least a 5 or 6 hours playtime. The scenario is great in concept. It has a nice set-up, a short but fitting slow burn beginning, a few good plot twists that come up soon ...

Dragonbane Core Set | Roll20 VTT
by Jarrad
Publisher: Free League Publishing
Date Added: 06/18/2024 09:54:36
pixel_trans.gif Dragonbane Core Set | Roll20 VTT Great to have and very nicely done, but I don't understand why the art hasn't been added to Art Library > Premium Assets > Marketplace Purchases. I appreciate art has been linked to entries in the compendium and journal (e.g., pregens and npc), so I can drag one onto the map and reuse it where I want (e.g., I can drag the token used on a specific npc and repurpose it for a new npc I create), but this is pretty tedious and not very user friendly. It would be great if all the token and avatar art used for entries in the compendium and journal items were also in Art Library > Premium Assets > Marketplace Purchases for ease of use....

Hero Kids - Fantasy RPG
by Aaron
Publisher: Hero Forge Games

pixel_trans.gif Hero Kids - Fantasy RPG Myself and another teacher used Hero Kids to try bringing a TTRPG club to our alternative school. I wanted to do an interesting club that wasn't overly done! This was my first time using the system or playing any TTRPG in my life. I loved how simple everything was. I ended up creating all my own content using some of the blank cards, AI picture generation, and some general ideas for delves. The kids loved making their own heroes. They shared in telling their story even when it meant bending the rules! I once gave a student an extra damage because they came up with a combo attack. Now, students are wishing the club wasn't over. I have even seen three wearing a custom drawn hero kids t-shirts! Thank you for making a system that gave me the confidence to try something new and provide students with an interesting and potentially hobby starting club. ...

Pendragon: Core Rulebook
by Daniel
Publisher: Chaosium
Date Added: 06/18/2024 02:20:20
pixel_trans.gif Pendragon: Core Rulebook This is not a Core Rulebook - the description in store is straightforward lie and be aware of that before you buy this book. There is NO setting description - only one chapter about being the knight but nothin about lands, country - anything. Nothing about religions, magic - why such things should be in CORE Rulebook Also as a GM I don't know how should I run this game - no NPC, no stats, no guidelines how to prepare adventures etc. At best it is Player's Handbook and even if treated like that it is incomplete. You can create characters from ONE castle (yes one, it is not a joke) from one region - and there is no description of it And there are lot of references to other books (seriously?) which are not even published. So it is a money scam not a game ready to play. I don't know why it was published and advertised that way and frankly I don't care. Im going to call it what it is. ...

pixel_trans.gif Solo RPG: A Beginner's Guide to Solo Role-Playing Games Like lists? This has them. Just to books with better in depth advice than this one, which is as shallow as a puddle. Nearly half the book just tells you to get Mythic GM Simulator, and I agree that you should get that instead of this.

Arquebusier class for Shadowdark RPG
by Jeffery
Publisher: Andrea Zanon
Date Added: 06/17/2024 23:00:17
pixel_trans.gif Arquebusier class for Shadowdark RPG Class is unplayable as is. The key piece of equipment it is named after doesn't exist in this book and isn't in the core Shadowdark book. This leaves it up to it to either be homebrewed or lifted from a third book that you will need buy, with no advice on which version of the Arquebus to use. It also has an improved version of the Goblin's Keen Senses ability, which seems to just step on the toes of that ancestry. I think the concept is great, but could use some additional work.

Everything Shields

Publisher: Paizo
Date Added: 06/17/2024 22:23:56
pixel_trans.gif Everything Shields I've bought this book late into 2023, way before I realised I could make reviews lol. Although I am late do comment on everything featured in this book, I want to say I absolutely love how much Everything Shields provides for shield users. Seeing the new items, archetypes, **runes** and feats, it'd feel ingenuine NOT to recommend this at tables where people love to use the ol' sword and board. The feats are really fun to play around with, especially with added distincions between light, medium and heavy shields. There are also fun feats that interact with other skills, such as Shield Flaunt (which lets you use Bon Mot as a reaction to a foe missing an attack thanks to your raised shield) or Shield Smash (using Athletics with a shield raised to stupefy foes with a dazing strike). They even add feats to interact with the Spell Trickster archetype! The Shield Attacks section lets you make the most of offensively using any kind of shield you wield in some really creative...

pixel_trans.gif Against the Darkmaster - Secrets of the Golden Throne Spell Cards Great expansion to the spell cards for this awesome game. You get three new lores: Glamour, Hedge Magic, and Oneiromancy (Dream Magic), which support the new kins available in the Golden Throne supplement. The spells are flavorful and definitely add to setting, especially if one is into Elven or Faery settings or games.

Dead End

pixel_trans.gif Dead End Just received my printed copy. I'm a little disappointed that the size of the book is smaller than the standard Savage Worlds books. It does say the dimensions when purchasing, but I didn't realize. The quality of the print is very good. I don't like the font choices used in the book. I have a very difficult time reading the headings and the flavor text. The main text is fine. It is minor, but I wish the infection deck wasn't included in the printed version. Whenever I go to the index, I have to thumb through multiple pages first. Rules ------ Shoddy/Used Items - Don't think it is necessary to have both--Used items is enough. Dramatic Encumbrance - Not something I will be using. Doesn't make sense to me. Supply - This is an interesting mechanic that I think has promise. Fate is Cruel - I'm not sure how I feel about this one. I think I'll like it, but I feel like it is overly punitive. We will see. Gritty Headshots - I like the idea. I have a feeling that the players wi...

pixel_trans.gif Dungeon Master's Guide (3.5) Book delivery was prompt. Small imperfection on bottom of the binding, but not noticable at distance. Pages are usual printstock, not glossy like the originals, but it may be due to to my copy being the softcover. Still an excellent product, colors are accurate, and all pages are there.
