Transformers Roleplaying Game Core Book
by REMI
Publisher: Renegade Game Studios
Date Added: 06/17/2024 17:03:49
pixel_trans.gif Transformers Roleplaying Game Core Book +++ A good lorebook (except for the Cybertron war story, not much too learn here) if you want to learn more about this world and characters. Buy the Decepticon sourcebook as well. Lots of nice and cool (comics) art. There is an introductory scenario. Some good lore and scenarios ideas inspired by places around the world. Lots of NPCs and baddies. - - - However the rules are an alternate version of d20 system. Instead of the easy advantage/disadvantage rule, they added another layer: you can change the dice type (like Savage Worlds) up or down. It’s slowing the pace of the games. Obviously a level-based system don’t match this kind of action movie stories. We need to be big heroes from the start. So you need to start at level 5 or 10 to have a cool character with cool powers you expect from Transformers. You can’t really play Dinobots without some tweaks. Bummer. Perhaps a future book? There are no interesting and narrative chase rules, no catalog of cool cars and planes to ...

3 Pages of Adventure: Cyberpunk Wilderness
by Mario
Publisher: RPGGamer
Date Added: 06/17/2024 14:30:35
pixel_trans.gif 3 Pages of Adventure: Cyberpunk Wilderness There are some nice ideas but I think it's just not worth the (to be fair small) price. The 3 pages are more like 2.5 pages and also include half a page of introduction and even some suuuuper generic tables like Friend or Foe or Descriptions that are not cyberpunk specific. I'd say you get more like two tables for cyberpunk that you don't already have.

pixel_trans.gif Black Streams: Solo Heroes It's a great tool kit. I should have said this years ago when I picked it up. I'm glad it's been put and into other Sine Nomine games. I've had literal years of fun play with siblings and younger cousins when we couldn't get a full crew of players.

Curseborne: Ashcan Edition
by Dominik
Publisher: Onyx Path Publishing
Date Added: 06/17/2024 11:47:51
pixel_trans.gif Curseborne: Ashcan Edition If what you're expecting from this ashcan is urban horror you're familiar with, you can easily find that. If you want something new you won't be disappointed either. It's a cursed reality that surrounds us all but a more hopeful one at that. How much hope is there is ultimately up to you and your players, however. As such, Curseborne shapes to be something sufficiently familiar but with many more new avenues for exploration. No straitjacket of metaplot and no dead ends, a fresh start Storypath fans deserve. This ashcan is not free of mechanical shortcomings that you should be aware of: Curse Dice explanation isn't perfect (held = in pool, bled = spent on something; you start with 1CD at Entanglement 1 but your limit at E1 is 5 curse dice; you must substitute regular dice with CD for all skill checks) and there are some other minor warts but it's absolutely playable, early preview of a great game in the making....

pixel_trans.gif Mythic Space Fun system so far. The action scenes for this game work really well, and flow quickly. I also really like the "fail forward" idea behind progression, it's an interesting mechanic.

Curseborne: Ashcan Edition
by Karol

pixel_trans.gif Curseborne: Ashcan Edition Curseborne Ashcan is not perfect. I’m not saying is bad… I’m old WoD and CoD Storyteller. I was at the start ( and even few years before ) of coming of New World of Darkness in 2004 and stick to all the line of CoD for all it’s run till 2020, supporting almost all gamelines. I’m also Storypath veteran, running 3 gamelines of it to this day. And I must say that Curseborne Ashcan is not perfect. I’m not saying is bad – only it leaves me in few places too much to wondering about game. In the end, I’m waiting for crowdfunding manuscript of whole book coming in October 2024. Pros: Interesting and ‘dynamic’ changes to previous concepts in WoD and CoD. Interesting model and mechanics of using Curse dices. Refreshing look on genere by Linages and their newtakes on old monster archetypes. Return to Urban Horror setting after those 4-5 years. ...

pixel_trans.gif Fanfare for the Chosen: An Exalted 3rd Edition Music Suite This is a great collection of music I mostly use as a GM to help inspire me to write. It has limited utility during game, though i'll sometimes use it to introduce a major NPC, i don't find it as helpful there. I am especially partial to the Solar, Dragonblooded, and Sidereal tracks. I could listen to the Sidereal track for hours on repeat.

How to Host a Dungeon 2nd Edition
by Aaron
Publisher: Planet Thirteen
Date Added: 06/16/2024 22:22:29
pixel_trans.gif How to Host a Dungeon 2nd Edition I loved the first How to Host a Dungeon. I'm sorry to say this version doesn't live up to it. There is a whole lot more content with lots going on, but the creator seems to have changed design philosophy. While the first game gave instructions on where to place things, how to draw them, etc, this one replaces much of that with 'your intuition is better than any rules.' This is not an uncommon sentiment in tabletop games, but it is a fundamentally flawed one. If someone wants to just make something up, they don't need rules. If they don't want to use a rule that exists, it can be ignored. If there's no rule at all, then that choice is removed from the player entirely. Ultimately, this edition leaves the player just making up rules for themselves for half of it. It's good for being one of the only games of its kind, but it's a disappointment as a sequel. I recommend the first edition, instead....
